There are moments in life
where we're made of wonder.
Stardust and sunshine
and moonbeams and gold.
Love and passion
and dreams and truths to be told.
Happiness and sweet messages.
Moments where the world itself
is made of diamonds and smiles.
Moments where words are music
and everyday sights turn to beautiful views.
Moments where people seem to glow
with pride and blush at little compliments.
Life is full of those moments
that convince us slowly that we are stardust
and sunshine and good and wonder.
Moments that show us mirages
of beauty and happiness.
And then our dreams,
our sweet sweet dreams of peace,
are crushed by a cold harsh reality.
When we fall and start to bleed,
how then,
how are we pure stardust?
Or when we get angry
and hurt the ones we love,
how can we possibly be
all sunshine and passion?
Or when we lie, when we cheat, when we steal,
how are those truths to be told?
When we stab our own bodies with metaphorical knives
of tears, of insults, of hate,
how can we be pure happiness?
Stardust can't bleed,
Sunshine and passion can't hurt others,
Truths can't lie,
Happiness can't be stained
with the sad truth of self hate.
And so goes our dream-like fantasy
of our own unique perfections.
Because they've been coldly proved wrong
by the sad truths of reality.
And with that we sink back into the relieving,
albeit depressing,
embrace of the actualities in the world.

we are reconstituted stars
trying to understand
our brothers and sisters
that still lay in the heavens

oh what beautiful irony

Travelling our galaxy
Searching so far
Like a dream or a fantasy
You lie among the stars
You are a nebula
Luminous and bright
A heart-stopping,
jaw-dropping delight
The only miracle in my sight
You are more beautiful than I could ever believe
Too gorgeous for my eyes to conceive
Far too bright to ever be matched
Happy and free, you’re unattached.
With my space suit all out of gas,
And no time in space, I hope I do last
And I might be coming on too fast
But believe me when I say
This is where I want to stay
You have my trust
You have my lust
I’m in love with a girl made of stardust
I was in love with a girl made of stardust.

02
we came together like a dying star
a single second that sparked a universe
chasing stardust through galaxies
i connect the freckles on your skin
like constellations
base elements forming life
in copper and green and deep wide black
i feel the expanse of skin on skin on skin
like honey dripping from my fingertips
as i touch the side of your cheek
a supernova of emotion
a collapse of everything that i am
and was and will be
forming existence in my own combustion
birthing oxygen in my stifled lungs
my heart takes off like a startled deer
crashing through trees and underbrush
coming to a sudden stop at the edge of a cliff
i stand on the precipice and stare down
at the rush of white water beneath me
and you smile up at me
raising your hands in invitation
i take a breath and step off the edge
only to realize that i am already at the bottom
five feet under and sinking
i struggle for breath against the weight
of the universe at home in my chest
suns dying and being born
in the sparks behind my eyelids
when i feel the press of lips
and the twitch of anxious fingers
and the ragged sound of ruin
in a dark room
you kneel at my feet and stare up at me
move your lips soundlessly
eyes wide and wild as the universe
as if to say
- is this okay -
it always will be
until the stars die out
and little by little
piece by piece
atom by atom
we become
stardust

they say we are made of stardust,
but we have to remember
that that was an entire explosion,
and that we are the product of destruction.

Your blue eyes and your rosy cheeks
and that white skin and long honey hair
I kissed this heavenly beauty
and then I looked away
I knew I knew
There was more than just a face
there were a beating heart and speaking mind
your rosy goldfish beauty is not everything
there's more

I see the galaxies in your eyes
and your short black diamond hair
your yellowish skin
mixed with power, weakness, and sins
O dear Jane
I kissed your silky skin
and I looked at you
and I knew I knew
there was more than what's appearing
there was a mind inside that black hair
beauty in every vain and cell

For all that matters
what's inside that fragile walking thing
is something part of the cosmos
part of the stars and suns
For all that matters
you will die and you will be
something of something bigger
and your face will be a history
that folks have to read it later

Dust to dust
You just another stardust
The beauty will keep on growing inside that mind
it's The Beauty Within
that will never die
