I’ve lost my ambition to work
I’ve lost my ambition to think
I stare at a screen and follow links
I have forgotten how to blink
I have forgotten how to network

People often forget
to write about their happiness
It's only when they're upset
that they clamor of their madness
because they know
pity comes to the loud,
and ignorance to the mellow
I am happy right now

Lights in the Sky,
Lights in the Sky,
How many have died,
For these lights in the Sky?

A web of familiar photos,
Flashing before my eye,
A bundle of lights are flashing,
Flashing throughout the sky.

Noisy lights bashing,
Crashing through my eye,
These lights aren’t dashing,
Their sadness is masking,
while mashing up the sky.

Today, like many others,
We seek lights flashing in our eye,
To remind us of our strength,
Yet strength is hard to come by.

Unity and tranquility,
Yankee Doodle, do or die,
So keep igniting these lights,
As they dance throughout the sky,
As my eye sheds another tear,
on this wonderful night in July.
What does this mean to you?

We were once all agog for the journey of life
Now just a mouse click leaves curiosity cured
Nescience masquerading as artificial cognizance is rife
Likes, follows, comments, thoughts and prayers lured

A slayer of ambition gave birth to the lazy
No will to work, no will to think, just click this link
And complain all day about how your life is crazy
Stare at the screen as if forgotten how to blink

Welcome to Medusa's social media inc.
Share every feeling that's on your mind
Arachne's weaving web now interlinks
A Giger painting has become mankind

It's embarrassing
It's depressing
It's caressing
It's inheriting

The natural beauty that lies outside
Left only viewed through filtered photos
Language devolved into hieroglyphic emoji replies
Tobler's ambition left reposed

Curiosity and ambition subdued
A final word
Adieu

I look up to your face,
Oblivious, you gaze down,
Every cell a brilliant shade of blue,
Eyes reflecting a greenish hue;

You don't realise were you are,
Fields of colour you ignore,
African sunsets I know you would adore,
People, places you never even glance at,
Too engrossed in adverts- adverse to books and that;

This haven you think you've created,
It's really a jungle- endless and endless,
Constantly chopping down trees,
Searching for a way out,
But forgetting to open your eyes:

Loosing yourself in an electronic jungle,
loosing yourself in your phone,
loosing yourself in your selfie- self harm; self loath; self hate;

Look up,
Get up,
Move,
Mabey you wont feel quite so...

Just irritated by all the people stood around on their phones, together but apart.

Social media is a weakness. I’m so closely linked to what you do. I could stop. I could ‘unfollow’ but that would be rude and I’m better than that. We both are. So we continue ‘following’ the others every move. So I feel my heart collapse and explode simultaneously every time I open your story or hear the birds in the morning thinking of you. I’ll check twitter and when I see you’re ok without me, I’ll turn away, bitter. Anxiety will envelop me till the next time I grow desperate and write in your name to find my new dose, the newest update.

Mourners of truth, now hashtag your pain.
Retweet and like, righteous fury appease.
Protests are trending, do not apathy feign.
Fight and resist, till the next Marvel release.

There isn't a person
in this world
who has
not
said or done
something they
deeply regret.
And it's
okay.

We're only human.
We're not programmed
to be flawless.

Naturally we would want to:

lock it up,
toss the key,
walk ahead,
never look back.
Pray that it remains
buried or lost in the
shadows so that society
never finds out.
Given the opportunity,
they would relish
in the chance to
tear us apart.
Drag us up and
down on the media.
Because only in our
moments of weakness
they can forget their
own imperfections.

Sad but hey, that's society now...

Just know that making
a mistake is natural
Owning up to what
you did takes
courage.

Just remember this, don't forget your mistakes, ok?

Never forget.
Because to know
who you are,
you need to

remember where you came from.
Such is life...
Only 22 and I can admit and acknowledge some big mistakes.
Things I'm ashamed off...
But hey, that's life!
As sad as I am, as scared as I am, as angry and hurt as I am, I'm still here.
Even when I feel like wanting to die, I'm still here.
My story isn't over. Not yet anyway.

Be back soon!

The way we be online,

stocking, posting are our way to spend time…

Be aware from this virtual world,

Its nothing but the drag,

To zero from One…

There are some good to things do,

But fake virtuality on your mind

(1st Verse)

I hate social media

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat

And all that crap cause Hey?

It’s misleading our ******* Generation

Look at our youth today

They can’t look up from their tabs cause they’re

too much obsessed with what’s going on

Gossips and all that stupidity

Hey, I’ve got a new pair of shoe, I gotta post that

And hey, look at That ******* beach

Ain’t she cool? I gotta double tap that

You see? Our youth are too much engrossed in ‘looking and acting cool’ than in being true

To who they really are

I mean they’re acting rich online buh those **** Kids are struggling offline

And what’s this thing about having friends

You’re never going to meet?

Not now, not ever?

(Hook)

(2nd Verse)

Friends who’ll never be there for you

Physically or emotionally

Friends who will never understand

How you really feel

Friends from the other side of your screen

I mean, **** social media

What’s the use of having Four-Thousand friends buh they will never be there for you?

What’s the use of uploading Thousands of filtered photos just to look cool?

*****, you should get out to the sun, life is perfect, it doesn’t need to be filtered

And so, my dear sisters

You don’t need that crop top to look beautiful

You already are

You don’t need that mini-skirt to look fabulous

You already are

Don’t let social media dictate to you

What should be social

Don’t feel left out if you can’t afford those heels

you saw Natalie with last week

Chances are, they were be borrowed

Don’t feel left out if you can’t come up with

a catchy on fleek nonsense

Chances are, it was copy pasted

And you know what?

Part of the reason why I hate social media

is because it has revolutionized

our thinking abilities

We’re now thinking in terms of likes

comments and shares

(3rd Verse)

**** Social Media

It’s sad to realize that people’s worth

is now measured in terms of likes

It’s sad to realize that you can be a celeb online

But a freaking ******* offline

You can be a ******* player online

But a freaking loser offline

Social Media has become a platform of hiding who we really are

We’re hiding our traits behind those screens

**** Social Media

You ain’t giving us a chance

To be ourselves

Fake accounts, fake profile pictures

**** Social Media

You’re only giving us a chance

To manifest and present

Our alter egos

And you’re getting it all wrong

We’re now more like, who we dream to be

Than who we really are

(Post chorus)

I hate Social Media

But when all is said and done

I’m still gonna post this online

Cause at the end of the day?

I still want you to subscribe
