There's a smell of food

in the hallways, it's Monday --

meat wrapped sausage day.
Novel "Ontaarde moeders" (1992, "Unnatural mothers", 1994, Renate Dorrestein), chapter 4, 'Veilig bij Moeder op schoot' ('Safe on Mother's lap') - Bacon-wrapped ground meat: in Belgium and the Netherlands called 'slavink'

Collection "Old sore"
Have you
ever been
in a
convalescent
home?

Hugged an
old person
all alone

There’s that
musty smell.
Hell
It’s
every where
Even in
Their hair

.
Yet nobody
else notices.
Should I
tell Grandma
it’s there?

I’m not
Suggesting
Snarky
Comments

Rather
A
Graceful
Hew
Of
Compassion

I
Could
Never
Pretend
I don’t care
I certainly
would want
to know

If I’m
giving off
A pig pen
Glow

A Horrific
Odor
As I get older
A
Bad smell
I can’t tell
Do others
ignore it
From me?

Is it
dead skin
in their
clothes
that makes
me
want to
hold my
nose?

Nobody knows
for sure
If they did,
there would
be a cure

For now,
Lots of
Quality
Expensive
Perfume cologne
A multitude
The old
Condone

As
Grandfather
would say
“pull
my finger
The odor
will linger”

I will always
remember
that smile
on his face

He was
An old
Chester Cat
Top hat
Grin

He
Used up
all nine
lives
Just
Like that
A
Mischievous
Smile

The bright Side
when
I pulled
his finger,
That
Incredible
smile
Also
lingered

BLT webster’s word of the day challenge
4-3-25 SNARK
Is a formal word that refers to attitude or expression of mocking irrelevant, and sarcasm
4-4-25 HEW
Is commonly used with to, to mean “ to conform or adhere to something”. Hew on his own, has several meanings having to do with cutting or shaping with a sharp tool, such as an ax.
I don’t know why you smell that with elderly people, but they don’t seem to notice. Nobody seems to say anything. What’s the deal? Is that what I have to expect for real.?
Your smell is a warmth
I can’t touch
but feel in every breath.

The air carries your smell to me,
like a secret message
only I can understand.

In every breath,
I feel closer to you,
as if your essence
is the thread
that weaves us together,
stitching my soul to yours.

I want to smell you even more,
to breathe you in even closer,
to let your presence
fill every part of me.

I want to live in a world
where your scent is the atmosphere,
wrapping me in a love so deep,
where the universe itself
holds us together.

And have you ever heard how poppies smell?
They are so huge, so wild, so ruby-colored!
They're summer harbingers, the lights of fields!
They are so thrilling, brave and so uncovered!

These poppies easily can put you to the sleep
Or even **** you with no difficult at all!
They're real flashes, doping! They're taboo!
They're passion, craziness and sin in whole!

And have you ever heard how poppies smell?
They are as red as real blood itself!
No? You haven't heard it? Oh, it's sad. You know,
That's how heartfelt and true love just smells.
These flowers are magically, hypnotically beautiful!

Antique
paper
& ink
& glue,
a fragrance
I drink
in through
my nose,
fragrant
like a dead rose.
I fan my face,
& fall into
an antique book
aroma coma.
