It's lonely
I have nowhere else to be at
A tiny death occurs
A flashlight open eye
Does it even stop?
Lost hung thoughts dry out in my room
Then the basic rumor smoke fills
your lungs
It's cheap awkward stares that faze
Those small cat like dreams
Spread over the coffee table
Unmasked and unafraid
That's where you still stand
Holding regrets final collapse
It's not enough

I’d rather be an empire builder
a lonely artisan
in the deserts outside
of Las Cruces
with the sunshine on my back
chasing destiny down
a steep cliff of Mesquite
and milkweed
to Mexico City
where the children smile
in the streets
and then on to the Guadalupe Mountains
where I’ll feel
the loneliness of my dreams
and make my way back
to Small Town America
where I’ll sit on the front porch
and revel in
a much simpler destiny
as you walk through the front gate
to greet me.

Life is measured by the small, slow moments that take up most of our day; it's found in the banality we take for granted in the everyday . . .

The in-between feeling of waking up and falling asleep in the morning
The walks in between two places
The savoring of meals in the middle of the day
The comforting silence shared between people before long dialogue
The car rides en route your destination . . .

Is it not in the process of leaves falling that you are totally entranced?
Is it not in the stillness of the world when you begin the relish life?
Is it not when your feet walk to a song's beat when you most feel alive?
Is it not in the process of cooking your favorite meal that intensifies your hunger?

Between day and night is when life is most lived. So live out your best life and enjoy the in-betweens because once you reach the end, your journey is over.
there's no need to be alone
so long as someone wants you
no reason to be sad
so long as there's happiness to be had
not for you

not a need to be afraid
unless you live with your fears
one track one line, a straightaway
only left to shift the gears
not for you

this machine
this marvel of a beast
a prize itself
but not for you

some days, I feel very small
like no matter how loud I cry
how many times I try
everyone looks over my head
and no one can hear me at all

Sky is vast
besides
painted in
blue opulence.
But the eyes
are on
the small earth!

there once was a fun beanie gal,
who made for a pretty great pal.
if you call her short,
she'll have to resort
to cruelty, which she shall.

Try to remember that we did use to have good times
The bridge you want to burn will your heart satisfy?
Small talks we could do, weather we could talk
We won’t share a dance, we won’t go for a walk
Yet can you just burn that bridge all the way down?
Was the past made of bricks, just stacked by a clown?
Problems are brushed off, subjects are ignored
We talk about our kids and how much they’re adored
Forget about the pain and the topics of the world
This one conversation it’s flowing in a mold
The time that  I give, it’s not that hard for me
All the quiet from before , was all I could hear...
Small talks can’t last forever so you asked about my cat
I smiled when I answered and thanked you for our chat
