Suckling at the ghost ****
full-feast in your slumber
button beast in a swaddle-veil
bellying about
in your dream business
free of reference
and unlearned

Sleep people
Sleep staff
Sleep doctors and Sleep teachers
mental attractions and morphing playmates
recasting to the tune
of your barbaric vagary
flashing charm for your attentions
flicking at the inner eye

Pup napping
is now ghost scrapping
you have a sleep grin
in your very first fight
perhaps you are winning ?

Was it just a dream
or did that really happen?
I can't tell with you

I dream of love awakened,
Of love unconditional and unbroken
—All kinds I dreamt about—

But have I ever felt it in reality: Doused
In disappointment, I continue dreaming
—All night, all day, forever sleeping—

Of love eternal and enduring
—spared from ever waking.
sometimes, it’s not always so easy to dismiss the temptation of escaping into dreams. more than battles in reality, the one waged against unfulfilled desires can irrevocably tether someone to the safety of imagination with a force that cannot be measured or explained. it can become the perfect trap. it’s a deadly endeavor that many are vulnerable to.

to people whose wakeful hours are very painful,
it’s not up to us to judge. the pain you carry is immeasurable, and only you can really fathom it. however, you are stronger for it. give yourself all the chances you need in reality to prove it— because you deserve it. If anyone says otherwise, they don’t know better. only you do.

surprise yourself. and show reality who’s the boss.

When I am sleeping, you are there in my dreams.

And when I am awake, I am lost in your thoughts.

My desires are taking a new shape.

You are my desire now.

The city never sleeps,
it's too busy wallowing
in broken dreams and
smiles as vacant as the buildings
that are too tall,
and too bright
to ever close.

I know I had a dream last night

The dream was the first thing I remembered
when I woke up

I know it was about a child
Perhaps a near baby

I was with a male friend
Though I don’t remember who

I’m sure that I was at a baseball game
Which I left before it finished

And I left the child there
With some people I met
Sitting behind me

I do recall being told by someone
Perhaps my wife

To go back and get the child

Which I was doing when I was awakened
By a noise on the street

I hope the child is okay
Do you dream?  Do you remember your dreams?

Curled up like a cat
Atop a spinning world of responsibilities

Don't wake me from this weekend dream
I can bear the nightmare occasionally

Instead, cut the lights and turn the fan over me
Breathing one final breath into this lifeless beast

You can expect me not to hear so much as a single sound
When the new day comes with an irksome, early, alarming scream
Goodnight cool world

I remember the pain
As the needle
Pierced the vein
And then darkness fell
Taking me into slumber
Of this dreamless spell

Years and years passed, a blink
My hair stayed brown
My cheeks and lips glowed pink
Youthful in form I slept
And as a world decayed
Around my room, weeds crept

A blanket of thorns
Grew around my home
And with a herald of horns
Princes tried and failed
To break through the wall
Every plan was derailed

Until the hundredth day
Of the hundredth night
True love will make way
Through the thorny plight
And loves first kiss
Will bring loves first sight

Until that day, I will be
Sleeping, floating in the void
Of a black soundless sea
Longing for the feel of warm breath
As lips, press onto mine
Releasing me from this living death

Today was my sister’s birthday
But a day that turned gray
A day that we were celebrating
But took a family member away

This day happened so fast
A day that made everyone in my family gasp
But this day was going to happen sooner or later
On this day my lovely grandmother past

I woke up in the morning
I saw a text
She’s fine
That’s what I thought in my mind

I panicked inside
I hoped in the car with my two sisters and I
While my dad
Oh my dad stayed behind

We drove with silence in the car with no one speaking
But what we did not know was that my grandmother was already sleeping

We pulled up to her neighborhood
When my dad called my sister
He said girls please come back home
We rushed back as fast as we could

My dad stood out front
Tears streamed down his face
Trying to keep it all in
As I quickened my pace

We ran up to him with our arms wide open
As we cried along with him
No words needed to be spoken

But this day was going to happen sooner or later
On this day my lovely grandmother past

when i was younger, i used to take naps when i was sad,
i still do.
it was an escape of reality for me,
i didn't have to think of anything.
it was a break of everything for me.
sometimes, i'd dream of something,
other times, i'd dream of nothing.
i liked dreaming of nothing.
when i dreamt of a white room or complete darkness,
that's when it really felt like a break.
