Life is full of little birdies
Whispering here and there
They sing and dance and flutter about
Overly eager to share

I can not swim
But I no longer drown

I can not sleep
But I keep on dreaming

I’m floating away
I’m floating awake

Sing sonically with me
String melodies next to me

Just be with me

What makes the sun so magnificent?
What drives the moon to appear so gorgeous?
What compels the stars to twinkle in the night sky?
What stimulates the flowers to smell so delightful?
What causes the butterflies to flutter so elegantly?
What inspires the birds to sing so joyfully?
What makes the ocean waves dance so gracefully?
What aspires Mother Nature to be so captivating?
What prepares a person to be so enchanting?
It is a whisper of love!

love was a little treble thing—
prone to sing
and (sometimes) to sting

Kissin’ ’n’ buzzin’
by Michael R. Burch

Kissin’ ’n’ buzzin’
the bees rise
in a dizzy circle of two.
Oh, when I’m with you,
I feel like kissin’ ’n’ buzzin’ too.

"Lu Zhai" ("Deer Park")
by **** Wei (699-759)
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

Uninhabited hills ...
except that now and again the silence is broken
by something like the sound of distant voices
as the sun's sinking rays illuminate lichens ...

**** Wei (699-759) was a Chinese poet, musician, painter, and politician during the Tang dynasty. He had 29 poems included in the 18th-century anthology Three Hundred Tang Poems. "Lu Zhai" ("Deer Park") is one of his best-known poems.

Lend your voice, your singing soul
to the beautiful
chorus of the living
sung by the majestic choir
of angels and humans--
Can you discern one from the other?

Love, love,
Lend your soul!
your beautiful voice!
O sing! to add strength to our rich harmonies
and endless melodies
all sung together at once--

O, lend your voice!
We will hear you,
singing out, humming, shouting out
of your heart and soul
rumbling from your chest,
shrinking at your toes.

Come! come, sing!
lend your voice
because the world is singing too;
and We will all hear you!

They taught us in primary school to rhyme;
One million separate identities of the lovesick took it as an invitation.
You might think that’s a rebuke. It is not.
It is meant as an invitation. Every word, in weft and weave,
In wave and tide, in sigh and heave.
It calls for another to love us. It tells us to never love again.
At the first breath of rhyme in elementary-
Some nonsense about frogs and banks and water over our hands
We are hooked. We are starving. We are addicts.
We want to chime. We want to sing.
We want to love with words.

I.

Sleeping Siren,
sing me to sleep
a lovely maiden
help me shift,
in my daydreams
to hear his song — that slips away from his rims.

II.

Sleeping Siren,
wake your spirit
for only your song
can force me to waltz
in his daydreams — oh, to encounter him there!
lying down beneath the
shadowy sun
created by fogs;
gentle, like a cushion!
with his lips forging into a beam
oh, to visit him, Daydreaming Siren — wake up.

III.

“Oh, to be bewitched with magic filled
with air in love so keen.
Oh, to engross with fairies
twirling like a bathe bird.
Oh, wonderful, mysterious, mythical,
I am the
Daydreaming Siren,
hiss in the Waters
for I will respond.

IV.

I let myself sink into the broad ocean
and let the coolness rub my skin
for I am about to have him
the lullaby in my trance.
I locked my eyes
as I let the fairies
tune with their uncanny wand;
“Hope so bright, give her request
feels so strong, grant her a peck
love so keen, serenade her to hallucinate.

V.

Sing me to sleep.
I will greet you in the Parallel
of my dreams bent by air
in love, so eager.
Await me there
for I will slumber a little without slowing
later I will see you
when I awake
'Tis now the time
of Spring
fare thee,
ne'er forget me.

For I will close my eyes without a slight dulling.
Oh sleeping siren, wake up and sing me to sleep! 'tis now the time to waltz in his dreams! with the fairies whirling like a swimming bird, I call to you, a beautiful maiden—I whistle into the Waters!

Sing Me your Poem,
on Love Divine.
As I raise U a Toast
and Sip on some Wine.
Our Nights have been,
on Beds of Red Roses.
With rooms that are filled,
with Fragrance of Posies.
Midnight Romance begins,
as We draw the Curtain.
When We are done,
Our Happiness is quite Certain.
Nights without Passion,
are simply Boring.
As I fall off to sleep,
in an Hour I'm Snoring.

I'm
bored
There's
not
much
to
do
Except watch the TV,
muck around,
write a story
make some sound
There's
not
much
to
do
Except sing a song,
dance a dance,
draw a picture,
go ship Klance
