You and I
Are water and salt:
Needing one another
Separately,
To live,
But dying of thirst
If taken together.

Dreams of you.

What is peace
A squall of grit,
Coarseness caught in teeth.
The earth spits resolution.
I do not accept it.

Long ago, I fell into the sea.
My tongue tasted salt
My body
Was tugged by tide
But tomorrow it'll wash you

Away
This is written as a drunk. Edited sober.
They always tell me,
Blood is thicker than water:
But the salt in me
Is the salt of the great sea
Tied of ropes thicker than blood.
Aubrey Lambert Oct 2014
from the sea she came
  fresh and pure and wild

to the sea she shall return
  spent, consumed, beguiled

begin she must, as well as end
  breathe, break, redeem

though never forget to savor the salt
  throughout the in-between

Underwater we became
something in space,
a whisper unheard,
heavy with
love & doubts.

I just want to play along
I just lost my train of thought
Maybe this hiccup they forgot
The spoon full of sugar we gaze upon
Not to be noticed
Is the coldest
Time of year
Set of scenery
I'm not at a loss of words
I just heard them all
To keep from the intent to ****
I have to try real real hard
But someone is going to play my card
Call my bluff
Like I ain't tough
I bend not budge
With every nudge
 the knife gets closer
They made me
This way that I am
A personified monster
Man made cluster
But with every ounce of strength
I hang on
But why restrain
what's killing me to contain
Why should I refrain
What's doesn't **** you makes you stronger
But I can't hold on any longer

So what the **** am I suppose to do

Momma said don't let them see you break
Momma said don't let them see you cry
Momma said keep pushing life is hard
Momma said it's alright
But Momma isn't here to kiss my head and tuck me in at night

It's midnight another day I made it
So in my room I cry
Momma said don't show them mercy
So tomorrow is the time I try

How sad that every morning
I keep on mourning
The journey the my day should bring
It's as plain as
The same old story
We tend to hear
And the hardest part is I want to run away
But I'm suppose to take everything with a grain of salt
The sun grew dark, the sky grew black,
I looked away; when I looked back
The rain was falling in sheets, so fine,
I thought I'd finally come back.

The air was heavy like before
I felt that longing even more
I tasted sea salt on my face
Standing on my landlocked shore.

It all came back to me, right there
Spray in my eyes, wind in my hair
It all returned to tantalize
As if those rain clouds didn't care.

the waves roar,
toes cuddle the sand
and the shoreline invites legs
with licks of salty breaths.
in and out,
the tide sighs
while tiny tourists glide
on sail boats in the distance.
and ice cold coke,
and you.

the sea purrs,
the sun begins to set
along the dusty horizon.
laughter becomes muffled
and the sand now naked,
stripped of umbrellas,
leaving behind
only foot prints.
a half-melted strawberry sundae,
and you.
this is the only normal thing i think i have ever written

Waters black; time
Leads to chaos.

Fallen soldiers and their
Rotten
Bullet wounds weep.

Salt cauterizes gouges in
The pretty skin of paper
Dolls trying desperately
To be strong.

Impossible dreams of returning
Scars
And keeping the glow.

Forgotten
The dye seeped through
The palms of everyone
Who touches me.

Nightmares drown
(The happiness)?

And fear is unfinished.

I want to melt away
Like an ice block in your palm
To trickle between your fingers
Leaving a chilly snail trail on your wrist

You'll blot me with a cloth
And wring me into the damp sink
To splash against the tears
Of the leaky cold tap

But what use are tears
When you're dripping down the drain?
They're only salt water
And I'm already headed for the sea

Not even the vast ocean
Knows the joys of being free
