Standing outside seeming lost
Striding circles with confusion
To the side by waves I am tossed
Sea simply an illusion
Losing self I've always known
Chasing light that is fading
Where sun once brightly shone
A river of shadows I'm wading
Forever rise to fall to knees
Rusted
Bent
Bruised
A cycle of mocking memories
Reminding me I was used
The ascending sun seems further away
Round the earth slowly spins
Harder feeling its warmth every day
Scattered like bowling pins
It's taking a toll on welfare
Screams of peace of mind
Louder as life strips me bare
There is nothing good left to find
This silly sadness spawned space
The emptiness consuming my soul
A powerful demon wearing the face
Of person who once made me whole
Why did I ever let you mean so much?

Walking side by side
For million miles
amd yet
Unreachable
Like the two river banks

it’s a journey down a river,
rocking southward bound.
the candlelight may flicker,
but the path is safe and sound.

listen, as they wonder,
the life that you may lead:
a world exists down yonder,
a world at last achieved.

the steady stream of starlight
shimmers in the waves;
the sun sets and bows to night,
the daytime at its grave.

will you be forgotten,
as you fall, far below?
white water churns untrodden,
the depths beneath aglow.

your body turns to whispers,
your soul into pale gold,
and when the nighttime withers,
your story will be told.

sat around the fireside,
the tale that all overcomes,
a legacy passed on with pride,
and into legend you become.

Am i the water
Drifting, flowing within the mass
Sometimes rushing rapidly
At times stagnant

Or am I a rock
Slowly being eroded by constant pressure
Or a leaf
Cascading wildly until saturated

Some yellow has gone,
bleeding in the valley.

Night lisps forward,
soft as ether,

as blossoms of bay laurel.
The moon stains the east,

& errant glimmers
founder in the cloud ditches.

The trees gather ice,
pages of silence,

smeared with identity.
Let this winter end

with an escape -
let this blood gallop

from black lots filled
with daggers of self.

Move me to
the necklace of river -

away from this inheritance
that stirs the dark.

There was nowhere
left for her to turn,
after the rains
came and washed him away.

So she lay down
upon the softened meadow,
lost in a stream
of consciousness.

She tucked herself in
between the sheets of Ulysses
and dreamt with both eyes open,
eating lotus fruit and flowers
as the river widened its mouth.

Daydreams drift into vivid memories,
shadowed thoughts of "remember when"
grow bright with a gasp
as I dip my feet into the icy river.

The new road used to be old riverfront
and the only travelers were ducks and geese.
We skipped school and skipped rocks,
chased each other with lightsabers
made of twigs and fishing twine.

I flex wrinkled toes and dig further
into the cold sand, feel the pulse
of the river mingle with my own.
A toy boat flounders on the shore,

its torn sail flapping in the breeze.
I rescue it from the rocks,
patch it up with twig and twine
and set it free.

Life flows in an endless stream of moments;
Like a river it has always trickled on with ease.
But for while, an obstacle has been in its path;
Sending streams of fate into parallel universes.
Soon when the path is clear once more
The stream of movement will continue;
This time, as a force to be reckoned with.

Springing
  from sequestered
         splendour,
 carved
out by
      ancient tributaries;

Receiving,
streaming,
  flowing
        with
            the current
of experience;

Through
  the floodplains
of my sorrows,
   to the
foreshore of
                my dream time;

A river
             of breath,
a watershed
               of meaning,
consciousness
                         in spate.

“Here is born the Po,
Anon, its waters flow;
So too I will upend,
From spring to shore
And back again.”
