Among addictions and vice
there are none I want more
than an addiction to the sunrise,
a vice most forgiving.

The taste of alcohol,
inciting the bellicose beast
cannot satisfy me,
and I have tried.

As for pleasure,
the kind that makes skin crawl
and the breath heavy,
needs more than itself to satisfy,

so I searched on.

Chalices of wine and paper smoke,
skin and bedrooms bathed in moonlight,
the allure of quick satisfaction
could not satiate my thirst.

Only one scene has been constant,
delivering me from my vices,
partner of the morning skies,
far from tinctures and tonics,

the sunrise.

Waves of emotions overflow my mind
Creating cascading waterfall of tears
Spilling over, breaking the dams of resistance
Taking me along with the strong undercurrent
Without any control over my movement
I go along with the flow, hitting a new shore
Unknown destination, yet inviting to me
I regain my senses, to leave my steps on the land
The land which has no name
I venture out to experience newfound emotions
That fills my mind and body, an experience unexplained

drawn to the street lamps along the road, against the darkness our faces lit up without any recognisable emotion.
deep down inside we were running, we were singing, singing to ourselves so nobody else could hear a sound.
selfish in that odd way, then again could you blame us? every visible cloud nine always seems to collect tears of the fallen.
no, this was our secret haven. it was a little bit too quiet, a little bit too silent but it was ours.
take my hand, indulge in the silence. it'll just be us and that'll be alright. sure, it might be a little chilly, but we've got each other
and this light, this light that we can't contain but yet others overlook. look at those cars driving by without a second thought!
they're all rushing home to their bits and pieces trying to convince themselves that they're living.
we both can see through the fog, we're the few that actually live. the few that can taste the breath of fresh air
empty your lungs, it's good to feel alive after all this while.  even if it's just us, amongst the others.
a speck of  sliver tinted paint against the lime walls,
sure, you feel like you're dying half the time but just take my hand, just for tonight. just for tonight we're alive.
Blood stained streets
Cries of horror that seeps
In one place they heard
Laughter that left the world.

In a moment they stopped
Then everyone sobbed
Remembering the joy that once was
Realizing what this war has caused.

United the cried,
“We will no longer abide,
We will no longer fight.”
We've finally found the light.

Do not force me to believe,
to get down on my knees,
it will only cause me to leave,
respect my views please,
and maybe then I will appease.
For I am the lone wolf,
living without his pack,
tossed away like a sheep which is black,
because they believed I fell of track.
Distant and alone I have grown,
living this life which they have sewn,
so do not expect me to live this life,
after what I have seen,
after all of the strife.
Just hold my hand and lead me away,
do not pull, do not play.
Just give me direction and I will follow,
choosing my way,
hoping to fill what's hollow.
And if I cannot believe what you teach,
I will move on with my life,
and let you still preach.
But if you continue you to spout,
about how I am a failure,
like a crop in a drought.
Then I will be forced to fight back alone,
breaking you down, turning over every stone.
So I beg of thee just trust me,
to make my decision based on what I agree,
and if I find love within your words,
then I will go high,
taking flight with these birds.

Looking up at the night time sky
wishing I could be that high
I know that I will someday
when I seize the chance to fly
Get away from these lonely people
For their entire lives they’ve strayed
Desperately searching for love,
but selfish in every way
Never willing to take a chance
so everything remains the same
Never using their time wisely,
so they never step up their game
They just become dependents
upon other people’s souls
Parasitically sapping them
until it’s finally taken its toll
This world is full of zombies
Most people can’t help themselves
They see you’re content with life,
so they won’t ever wish you well
Find your piece of heaven
within this world of hell
Learn to take care of yourself
without having somebody else
Know that you’re not alone
Someone else has felt your pain
If you learn to open up
then you have everything to gain
Keep your chin up high
because it’s known that love soars,
but if you choose to stay down low
so, too, will your hopes of something more
a piece of you, in a different form.
a piece left over, from the storm.
in my existance,
came all the resistance.
shortly after, the roof caved in.
& with an end, we watched it begin.
daddy left, you stepped up.
an empty glass, you filled the cup.
little did we know, it had a leak.
it's dripping slowly, as we speak.
over bumps we built bridges, rocky roads we held hands.
next to me, by my side...you'd always stand.

then, my hero ****** up.
he spilt the cup.
but he wasn't to blame,
no guiltiness, no shame.
you mopped the floor,
and again..you poured.
the cup freshly filled...
until the next spill.
the crack grew longer,
our bond grew stronger.
but little by little,
it grew too brittle.

his pillows were fluffed.
mine came unstuffed.
his blankets were warm.
mine came torn.
his bed was made.
but, you see i was afraid.
he didn't come home.
my secret is left : unknown.

i hit a blindspot in your rearview mirror.
i tried to hit the wipers so you'd see clearer.
& i tried with all my might.
to get into your sight.
but he was standing there, in the headlights.
& you...flicked on your brights.
there, i stopped, i tumbled...i fell.
no mean to get up, no energy to compell.

so now, i'll try and help you understand,
why i only hold plastic cups in my hand.
i was tired of competing with the one who broke the cup.
and watching, everytime, as you filled it up.
i was tired of running, when he got to walk.
i was tired of staying silent, when he got to talk.
i didn't know you had to fail, in order to win.
i didn't know you had to say goodbye, in order to begin.

BANG!
up
to action
BANG!
rising panic
adrenalin
BANG!
swiftly
to the window
BANG!
fluorescent yellow jackets
they're here
BANG!
its the back door
set the barricade
BANG!
will it hold?
not for long
BANG!
they've come later
than usual
BANG!
we'd thought
not today
BANG!
we'd dropped our guard
prepared food
BANG!
a meal
cooked in vain
BANG!
the barricade
starts to fail
BANG!
our bodies flung
at the metal door
BANG!
summon strength
hold it closed
BANG!
successive impacts
rattle our bones
BANG!
screaming now
rage and pain
BANG!
"open the door!"
"*******!!"
BANG!
we wont make it
easy for them
BANG!
but we know
how this ends
BANG!
our home in chaos
frantic packing
BANG!
save the tools
we'll need them
BANG!
they're our keys
to a new home
BANG!
our foes advance
on another door
BANG!
they're determined
so are we
BANG!
it breaks
the door opens
SLAM!
somehow
we kick it back shut
SILENCE
they've stopped
why?
VOICES
the other door
they're in.
