It's an impulse you can't control,
An action you wanna take back
But let's face facts
You can't delay it
The pain waits patiently,
Tapping away at your consciousness
Regardless of the consequence
And I'll be honest with this
It's almost impossible to stop

Almost

The key word I hang onto with every breath
This is not just a test of strength
But of reality,
Making short work of your sanity
You try to stop it
But it won't have any

I see the kids with mocking laughter
Not knowing that my body awaits disaster
Trying not to cause drama
To kick up a fuss
To set off the bus
Drive it down main street and yell
"Hey look mum no hands".

There's a reason rumour rhymes with tumour
Malignant and fast
If not careful you'll breathe your last
One misplaced cut and your veins start spewing
On the gums with nervousness inside your mouth you start chewing
And deep inside your anger is brewing

Boiling
Broiling
Coiling around your throat
Just to choke you out

That's what my impulse is like
That's what my impulse is about
And sometimes it's hard to resist
When my subconscious persists
That little voice in my head telling me
"You ain't ****!"
"Just another mother-******* chopping board
Slicing
And dicing
The Sunday specials you had stored"

I'm better than this
Experience defines who you are
And I'd rather not be a peeling bandaid,
A walking, talking, bleeding scar
That won't heal!

That stays, never gives up for the wrong reasons!
Searches and lives a life without meaning!

I'd rather just be myself
Not the trash can everyone dumps their **** into
Even when it's full

I want to be safe
Can you say the same?

Life
And all its endeavors
Usually end in forever
But never
Surrender
Your smile
Death
Is an unjust
Punishment
But never
Surrender
Your smile
Power comes
When weakness grows
But never
Surrender
Your smile
Evil will triumph
A time or two
But never
Surrender
Your smile.

Because smiles have power
Smiles are infectious
Even when life is sour
Smiles' sweetness silently severs
Our connection to pain
Pleasantly putting to perspective
This putrid pestilence
We call progress.

So when you feel down
Never.
Surrender.
Your Smile.
Man
It's not how many times I  retreat,
it's how many times I come back
that makes a man of a boy.

If someone loved You,
With all the power of Their soul for a whole lifetime,
They couldn't Love You as much as I do in a single day.

And when I think of You I think of how there's:
No Growth without Resistance.
No Action without Reaction.
No Desire without Restraint.

One step at a time that Fear is receding.
You've assured me of this.

As I walk through the land my Ancestors lay.
Blood fills the oceans, have we lead ourselves astray.
Seamlessly existing in an orchestrated plan.
Screaming false hope to countless souls responding ‘yes we can’.
All my concerns point to the future.
People’s attention being condensed, we’re living in torture.
Every aspect of what’s known has been taken.
Mind of a free man, will never stop until the agenda is shaken.
You think you see things, and yet your vision is impaired.
Get your eyes out of the tunnel scope.
Its okay you don’t have to be scared.
When you’ve accomplished, your soul fills with certainty.
That your influence is there, along with all the hope in the world you see.
Constant struggles, we bleed for our fellow brothers and sisters.
I could be walking with potentials, let me wash away my blisters.
Strength in numbers and we can be as tall as mountains.
Let’s all walk as one, towards the everlasting fountains.
Walking down a long lonely road
Ever closer nearing the edge
Stepping out off the gravel grade
Walk along right next to the ledge
Saw a cross above the treeline
After traversing the dark tunnel
Passing beneath the overpass
For you he gave his life; He died

Smooth water across was like glass
Tension broken with just a touch
Divide between; a deep abyss
Moving disturbing did so much
He stepped out on top of the brine
Don’t worry child you did it well
Nobody there gave a Rat’s ***
He rose revived the Son survived

Touching the surface a clean slate
Dip it in deep creating wake
The sky a perfect reflection
Send out ripples filling the lake
Long ago past ancient timeline
Rose up high in a cloud funnel
Finally reached critical mass
Emerging on the otherside
Ballade form ... not sure if it's done correctly, seems confusing, 8 syllables per line
If you stare out of a window
Across a bleak garden some September morning
If the neem tree in the garden reminds you of home
Vast, old, timeless
If you remember playing under a neem tree in Allahabad
And you can almost hear the laughter of children as they play
In the heat of a sultry afternoon in June
And because the window is small and barred and cannot open
Because you want to breathe freedom
Because you want to shower without them watching
Because you silently swallow your screams
Because your mind is starting to get fuzzy
Because your tongue is starting to slur
Because you have started drooling
Because your fingers shake when you write
Because the words Ritalin Prozac Depakote Lithium
Have started sounding like poetry
Because you feel your resistance slowly dying
Because you start to say the words they want to hear
Because you know the glazed look in the eyes of others
Is in your eyes too
Because this confluence of muscle and bone is wasting
Because you sleep for hours
Because you now smile at your doctors
Because you scream when the ECT paraphernalia is wheeled in
Because no one cares
Because once you’re labeled, you will be forever
Because asylums were once freak shows
Because asylum is not what it means
You go back to staring
Staring
Staring
Staring
Staring
Staring
 Staring
Staring

They moved your district
So your vote goes astray
In order to invalidate you
In each and every way.

Stand up, America. Stand up.
Wise up, America. Stand up.

They point fingers at you
And call you ugly names
Demand your rights as equals
They ignore you just the same.

Stand up, America. Stand up.
Wise up, America. Stand up.

They tell us who to marry
And say must give birth
As if they were nobility
The queens of the earth.

Stand up, America. Stand up.
Wise up, America. Stand up.

They really only want us
To give them all our cash.
The rest of the time they will
Treat us all like trash.

Stand up, America. Stand up.
Wise up, America. Stand up.

It’s up to us America
They won’t stop on their own.
They make too much money
To leave our laws alone.
Big Business is paying them
To cheat us all to death
So, they will never stop
Until their dying breath.

Stand up, America. Stand up.
Wise up, America. Stand up.
