We deny our flesh, then, give into
the path of least resistance
and after falling in every pothole
from roads we travelled before,
we wonder why guilt and shame
win out as mocking spectators
while we mindlessly repeat
the same painful journey.
Inspired by others' journeys.

It’s your fault.
Three soft sounds, and yet I cower behind my delusions as they make themselves heard.
It’s your fault.
The words crash around my mind, shattering the translucent lies keeping me sane.
It’s your fault.
They tear through my life, upending my dreams and hollowing out my soul.
It’s your fault.
After enduring so much, all it took were three simple words to break me.
Even if someone drills those words into your mind again and again, don't give up. Stay strong. You didn't do anything wrong. Remember that.

I have a hard time describing love, I have failed numerous times. I began to think about what love really was but there was nothing, to me love was nothing.

Days went on and I couldn't stop asking myself, " What does love feel like, what does love feel like?" Still, nothing. Then it hit me, I may not know what love feels like but I know what it doesn't feel like:

Love doesn't feel like spending every weekend alone on your couch waiting for that call.

Love doesn't feel like you're filled with negative colors like red and blue.

Love doesn't feel like the cold tile of your bathroom floor and tears streaming down your face.

Love doesn't feel like raindrops falling off your hair and onto your new dress they didn't even notice.

Love doesn't feel like a sore throat after hours of yelling at each other.

But still, what does love actually feel like. To the best of my ability, I crafted another list:

Love feels like the soft burn of your cheeks when they compliment you.

Love feels like their warm embrace.

Love feels like all the colors of the rainbow are filling you body.

and most importantly, love feels natural.

Darling, we're doomed
to a life of
extraordinary regularity.
Still, smile,
for the world's birthday is today,
and it will die as the moon rises.
The Force bends, lifts us up
from the tedium of madness
into an order of monks
who let their mole hairs grow long,
in order to purify the soul.
I breathe, slowly.
The world hums beneath me,
around me,
and within me,
and I look to you. You tell me,
"Hold me closer,"
and I listen, afraid of what you might do.
Still, I think to myself,
"This is nice," as you agree.
The angels fall over themselves with laughter,
raucous, cruel.

My initials
Three letters, representing the sounds I've obediently responded to my entire life
But acron- I mean initials
Can sometimes stand for multiple things

Take mine for example
It can stand for my name
"Jam and Oranges"
"Jail and Outbreak"
See? My initials can mean a lot

But when you take context
Which defines an acronyms given meaning
You get the exact meaning behind each symbol

So let's look at the context
My family tends to be repetitive
They're unable to easily cope with most things
And get overwhelmed by emotions to the point
Where they stick them in bottles to brew and fester
Well, I do that too
Ive been trying to stop
But I still do it

They drink
I drink
They smoke
I smoke
They act with reckless abandon in any given situation
Dido
They don't respond well to confrontation
Yeah. Hi.
Swearing like a sailor?
Check.

So maybe my initials don't stand for my name
Im sure they once did
But as far as I can tell
It could just as correctly mean
"Just Another Ortiz"

Innocence
So small, so pure
Tender and mature,
Yet somehow
Lacking

Innocence
A child at heart
From others, so far apart
Unaware of the placement of words
Giving an entirely separate meaning

Innocence
So small, so pure
Mind secure
Despite attempts to tamper
With the delicate camper
In a woods of magic

Innocence
A child at heart
Ready to play the part
Yet, is it true
Through this hazy view?

Innocence
So scarce in these times
Foolish with these rhymes
Interpreted and tainted
But unaware of such
Picture painted
A gentle touch
On the shoulder
Whisper of explaining
Drop of a boulder…

I was telling my friend about a kiss, and they thought I meant something else entirely. The minds of people these days are in the gutter.

See how the clock ticks?
Second by second; Minute by minute
Golden hands moving, moving
Never ceasing, ever changing

See her dress flow?
Lace of black, silk of red
Hugging her form; Kissing the floor

See her foot tap in anticipation?
Tap tapping, Clap clapping
Her heel scuffs the floor
Ding, scuff. Ding, scuff.

Now see her pacing
Back and forth, Forth and back

Back to the clock
Hands at a quarter, Quarter ‘til nine

Tick ticking, click clicking
Forward in time, inching towards nine

See her dainty hand rest
Upon the rail to the stairs?
Fingers tap, heels clap
As the clock ticks the time

See her raven hair catch the light?
The silver pins shine
She twirls a stray curl
The clock still  ticks the time

Five minutes left now
She sighs a slight sigh

Then the doorbells chime
As the gold clock strikes nine

An audible gasp as the door opens wide
The clock is forgotten; its tick out of mind
They head to the dance at two past nine

Duck duck goose
Duck duck goose
The same old routine
Stuck on a loop

Like a new found song
Played over and over
Story of my life
Wish I wasn't sober

I'm stuck in the mud
Stuck in this town
Ready to get out
Before I dumb down

Ring around the rosie
I have already fallen down
There is no exit in sight
Every time I turn around

I write my own songs
They aren't very good
But they are mine
They tell you where I've stood

They start to sound the same
After a while
Same chord progressions
All my thoughts compiled

1 2 3, 1 2 3,
What will i do now?
Hopefully something different
If my brain will allow

Play then rewind
Maybe I'm insane
Because I keep doing the same old thing
Thinking things will change.
I'm sick of the same old thing everyday, I'm ready for something to change. My way doesn't work, time to break this pride.
