The things I have seen in my life make the sides of my heart hurt and makes my eyes want to weep.

than being unable to forget
someone

who no longer thinks of
you.

When the moon has set
And the blanket of night
Has been pulled back
To reveal my mangled silhouette
Will you remember me?

When the pieces of us
Are nothing but dust
Scattered into the winds
And blown from our hands
Will you remember me?

When my voice box gives out
And the screams and the shouts
For you to return
Are muffled and will go unheard
Will you still hear me?

When I reach out into the vastness
Looking for a hand
That has the lines and the patterns
That mold with my own
Will you still feel me?

Because I let you wonder
It was in your nature to go
I never held on
I just watched as you grew.

I watched as you ran
From everything that you knew
The pain and the pleasure
The lies and the truth.

It was never my intention
To clip your wings
Or put you in a cage
Just to watch you sing.

Remember me
Even after you've let me go
And the Earth comes back
To claim my bones.

Remember me.
For you.

Sometimes I do wonder
If you ever think of me
and just how much I loved you
and how you just left me to bleed.
Despite how much I’ve hurt,
even when I’m alone,
when I think of you,
my mind still feels at home.

Hey there old friend,
I miss you.

I remember we’d laugh till we cried,
or when we’d go on our own trips & rides.
Our jokes were really the funniest,
and in those moments, I could’ve sworn,
I was the luckiest.
You were there to catch my falls,
and only you answered my midnight calls.
Nobody understood me like you did,
and I wouldn’t be around if not for you, kid.
You marched with me through new things,
and provided the feathers for my wings.
You climbed with me to better heights,
and got me through the difficult nights.
It was an honor to have been your best friend for a while,
to have been the one to make you smile,
to have been the one to make you laugh,
and to once have shared your gilded path.
I hope our parting is no longer an issue
because if you’re reading this,
dear old friend,
I really do miss you.
Send this poem to an old friend you haven't reached out to in a long time. It'll make their day, I swear on it.

A pile of rotten maple leaves
looks like a granite mountain
after the fluttering confusion
of confetti-cut whirling snow

but do you remember when your
lemon-scented hair was plastered
across the icy sleeve of my coat
like the leaves around my porch?
All this filth, all this murk
it's all coming from me - no one else to blame,
I believed in the woods once, could see the light
through the trees, but now it is all murk in the mottled forest;

The act is an act, the mask to hide
from the world, my hollow shell, a cocoon;
this convenient hideaway, measured tone, repressed
thought, whirlwinds of desire.

So you just run onward through the bones in the yard,
saying hi to the pristine porceline girls of *****
on the way, spinning and grinning
with jawed grimace, their faces sown
in poetic indifference,
and you want to remember

That, once you were something
pure.

till you were about ten years old -
sighing, carry on, knowing that your scars
are your best friends, mutter with them,
freeze the pain, don't drown it out, Believe,
because the greatest lie is that  man is pure,
and life is not that long that you can ignore those smiles
that are ok with that, and laugh about it along with you, in words , stories, and poetry.

This hole ,this hole of woe,
My heart brakes and keeps breaking,
For the piece that was stole,
Life takes and keeps taking

Lessons that remained to be taught,
From a life taken to soon,
Respect for the courage of the fight that you fought,
Teaching mortality we are not immune

Song plays on the radio,
Movie comes on the t.v.,
You're always in my ears,
In everything I see

My spiritual reminder,
Steering me on my path,
In essence as in flesh,
When I'm feeling lost,
You have been my finder

So I search my soul,
Looking for life's answer,
I see your smirk, that funny face,
With a tear I can't help but smile,
Knowing you're up above,
Protecting me all the while
