When the sun rolls her eyes
A soft whisper reminds him
You’re home free once you lay inside

Barbed wires and lilac thieves
He's cloaked from head to toe
The Promised Land saws at his knees

Raising her head, she cries
Only not for stars or dreams
But to fill as though she is ten, not five

It’s the destination, not the journey they say
Preaching as though you don’t have soil to stay

Listening into the black and white picture screen
Ripples draped in red
They are not called she, he, only thing

Stripped of
Care
Consideration
Left less than animals

Tell me again why you believe this man covered in cloth
Is any less than the man who hides behind a rock
'A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so.'

Each so beautifully different,
Strong and seemingly unbreakable,
Yet overwhelmingly fragile.

Lay a foundation,
Jagged, unmatched and rough.
Does it fit?

Continue to build,
Each layer grows stronger,
More impenetrable.

A whirlwind topples a few stones.

New reinforcement.
Stronger, and with more determination.
Need to protect.

A wave of you crashes down and threatens stability.

Work harder, work faster.
Salvage the progress,
And continue to add.

attempts to chisel away.

Some make dents,
Some holes,
Some take down sections.

But the hard work perseveres.
And the wall remains.

Afraid to love.
Anxious to miss.
Scared to hurt.
Terrified to feel.

I have built walls around my heart.
Wore an armor of steel.
Held a sword on my hands.
Protected myself with a shield.

I turn away.
Pull back.
Push through.
Set my guard up.

Afraid to be love.
Anxious not to be miss.
Scared to be hurt.
Terrified to be feel.

You know
We're good
We both know
How to hold back

Killing machines,
On command, we can attack

Our defences
Sometimes found offensive
Do the crime, pay the time
Pay for your offences

You got my back
You're there for me
Protect me
And I, you
You won't let me hurt myself
And I tame your anger
We're there for each other
You'll know if you let your guard down,
And they still fight for you

But would you do the same?

I held my bleeding heart in my trembling hands and offered it to you in hopes that you would protect it.
My wrists were soaked in crimson and my face was stained by tears but you still looked to me as if you loved me.
And you took it. And you held it. And for a moment, I thought I was safe.
Then you squeezed it. Harder and harder. Until breath could no longer escape my lungs. Your black nails, streaked by red, dug sharply into either side, and with one last effort,

You
Ripped
My
Heart
In
Half.

It was all you had to protect.
It was all I had to give.
Like the heart, we were split in two
Making it impossible to live.

Love me like you use to do,
when we first met, and I was new;
Cherish me, with all your might,
as when at first, I spent the night.
~
Respect me for the woman I am,
in the days, when you first held my hand;
Protect me as when we first met,
and we didn't know each other yet.
~
Take pride in everything I do,
even if you don't approve;
Be on my side, through thick or thin,
please believe in me again.

We fight to protect
We lie to protect
We live to protect
We die to protect

We make the ultimate sacrifice to protect what is most dear to us

Your raison d’etre
Your final breath

She keeps staring at me
the girl with blue eyes
she keeps asking me
which one of us will die.

We always lost most precious things in our life, when the things we have to protect become too many.
