The day you meet a woman
you   love
you will see why
you made me laugh for no reason,
why I drove in the rain for days

to dry the palms of your hands with my sweat,
why the blackness of your skin
lit my eyes
which were a mirror
to your chocolate sculpture
carved by

taxi rank crowds scampering around you
at rush hour -
just before the rain -
framing you into a portrait of dignity…

You'll see
why drums  beat in my chest
and shook me like daisies
whenever your soul
slid towards me

to sip ...
You'll see
why blemishes of my tattooed hands pricked
creases on your  forehead
and cupped

my tears below your greying chin,
why death had stopped stalking me
after I had jazzed with you under
our  passion-splashed  umbrella
and tasted the rain
under our  toes -
on cobbled streets at Kippies

on Mirriam Makeba Street…
The day your Black Magic Woman
stumbles through
your Mute. Deaf. Door...
you'll grasp
why you were once  my sugar chocolate  tree
in a faded world where  hearts were not  papers.

Tell me what you want
Whisper them in my ears, dear
I'll listen to you
let us talk about that moment
where two strangers wake up together,
where reason is no longer dormant
and all the lust evaporated like ether.

and when the sun would rise
and shine on their lost bodies,
they would find theirselves dive
into the light's luscious *****.

because night is their secret keeper,
their key to a lock of dreams and lust,
while day is a cruel truth seeker
which none of them could ever trust.

you'd expect this to be the start
of a fairy tale, a long lasting love story,
starting with breakfast in a tiny mart,
ending with a ring in all its glory.

but then again, let's not be deceived
by the bare skin they shared
and the tension they relieved
during their alcoholic glare...

Because *** is just ***,
Plain and simple, like a treadmill run,
Having nothing to do with love
And everything to do with fun.

I am not who you want
I am not who you seek,
Do not let me wait,
For a love that is bleak,
I know my eyes don’t sparkle,
Like the stars in the night,
Nor the spring of emotions,
That keeps your life a light.

You don’t need to look back,
My heart can still breathe,
Do not even dare peek,
If it will eventually bleed,
Fly to the sun, the moon, the stars,
Dare not wish for my weary arms,
Leave me as I am, broken in grief,
I promise, this pace, will be brief.
Slap me with the truth and I will say you indeed loved me. Drown me in lies and I'll curse your existence. Or maybe---I'm just in denial, that love is indeed cruel or I am just unlucky. (I am not putting words in your mouth--just tell me you don't like me)

Note:
Sometimes---we just don't like pain---do you know your defense mechanism in love?
