To give birth to a child
is a wonderful thing

The waterfall of emotions
The love it does bring

Your world is charged
forever more

Long sleepless nights
are in store

As fatigue
a messy house
set on in
You'll not really know
where the hell to begin

Baby will eventually settle down
Order, routine
will come round

You'll laugh and cry
They'll melt your heart

You'll love them
like know other
from the very start

As they grow
from toddlers to teens
they may change into someone
you've never seen

Their teen years
may drive you insane
But their hormones go nuts
so they're really not to blame

Fill their world with
Hugs, laughter and fun
Cherish your child
as if they're the only one

Talk at the table
when you all sit for tea
Help them grow
to be the best
they can be
Spent mothers day with my siblings and our kids

Standing at the edge of the lake
morning fog fading into the light wind
the forest alive with every small creature
giving voice to the rise of the sun
with each one putting its own beautiful song
into a symphony of summer...
this moment in my heart
a cool treasure from nature
a journey from sleepy places
to a joyous celebration
of the natural world
I want you in my future, hands made to nurture, food I'll prepare, for you are so rare.
You may say I'm young, I'm very far from dumb, my mind works fast, together we'll last.
To anon, I know it's hopeless.

A little person
So full of life
Starting on a blank slate.
Looking and observing
At everything around them
Soaking it all in like a sponge.
Be a good influence
One of respect.
Teach them well
They begin innocent so any evil is taught
Fill them with love as they do you
Smile, hug educate and play
A love can never be as big
Motherhood
Nature-vs-Nuture
Nurture 1
Nature 0

in a constantly fluctuating
ever-changing word
there are two things that
will remain no matter what

1. yourself.
at the end of the end of the day
your opinion of yourself is
the only one that matters
take care of your body and mind
nurture yourself
fall in love with your
beautiful, messy being

2. your family.
no matter how bad you messed up
how big of a mistake you made
they’ll always be there to hold you up
don’t push them away for
something temporary
they raised and grew with you
they really do know what’s best

don't abandon the things
that stuck with you through it all.

Walk to the edge of the forest, take off your shoes.
Let your feet dance on the earth, toes squiggly in rich, fertile soil.
Place your hands on a tree and feel life flowing through you both.
Walk through the cool, dark forest to the meadow, glistening in rays of sunshine, feel the warmth.
Lay in the grass, admire flowers, whistle with birds, make friends with bees.
See, feel, taste and smell what the concrete is foolishly trying to keep out.
Connect with your old mother, protect her as she has protected your ancestors.
Remember how you were created by her nurturing grace.
This is a work in progress. I want to make it longer, with more rhythm and a well rounded story

The water in the glass is clear as a pool
It cools my throat in relief
I have been dying of thirst
Without even knowing
What it is like to drink water
Playing in puddles of mud and moss
I never thought to search for higher ground
Keeping like a child
Stuck on the earth's surface
Feet planted on the sticky stuck
When the discovery of the body of water
Led me to clean out my bucket of shells
In this cave from which water is falling from Wilderness'
Fresh water springs from his mouth
Nothing tastes cleaner than that

There are more forces in heaven and earth
than we ever dreamt of in our philosophy;
do we see a bird’s wing beating with sham mirth,
or the stars twinkling out of blind jealousy?
To that I say, comprehend not without your heart
however you choose to with your mind. No one
has the capacity for head knowledge at the start,
except our ability to love, and that is enough.
What each lives through is what each decides to feel.
As we search beyond our eyes, our limited senses, the fleeting unreal,
still greater wisdom will we gladly attain.
The things we call seen, are merely temporal--
so look to things not seen, which are forever eternal.
The first two lines are inspired by Hamlet by Shakespeare, and the last two are adapted from a biblical quote which I love.
