Respect-

Why can't i imagine even a
single person i "respect"
that I'd be able to touch?
uncle, father, brothers,
not one of them i could caress!
thus,
let us find what i respect-
i respect those
i fear!
i inferior am!
who make me QUESTION
everything;
why not you?
honey do i not respect you
why?
is this why i push you to be assertive, "tough"?
for i can not respect one
I DO NOT FEAR?
and thus
i cant touch any of those people
BUT
let us remyth here-
cut the ties that bind-

and now,
heres what i respect-
and a daily habit it is to engender, dear!-
softness,
patience,
empathy,
ability to be held,
honest,
forthright,
NO LIES - well, may be whites!-
FEARLESS
yet(!)
TENDER-
able to cry, oh my dear,
you do cry do not you?
and not only when
glugglugglugglug
OOPSIES i am drunk let me act the way i would never sober
AND THEN
blame the behavior on alcohol and then once again get drunk and do it again-
BORING!-
nay you,
you cry intentionally-
with intent,
with awareness!
Yes,
a life's work here,
to find new modes to respect;
and then?
eyes touch,
smiles shared-
and yes,
i would like to give them food--
aye, i agree
it IS lovely.
A new journey.
Thanks and Warmth and Hugs.napo

Deep down, from the river, from the black earth
From Mississippi mud to Chi town streets
Slow, and rhythmic, ****** beats.
A man stands,  late to his own show,
and declares to the audience below
that he is a Man. Spelled M, A, N.
We believe. His mastery,  presence,
husky voice. The essence
of Man. And what the men don’t know–
the little girl understands. It’s my first show
without my parents. My brother's there.
A man sitting near us shoots up–I stare,
as smoke of cigarettes and **** fills the air.
A packed crowd, eager to see
one of the last of the greats, history.
But no nostalgic, fleecing tour is this .
One of Muddy’s last is still at the top of my list.
He died five years later. It's still one of the best concerts I've ever seen. He only sang and didn't play guitar, but the back up band was great. Georgetown University, September 1978.

Somedays You help us awake,
and shy though we are,
you patiently wait.
As the light shines forth,
we always seem to forget.
But you wait, patiently,
while all the while,
softly pouring a ray of spring sunlight,
and the chirping of birds that begins each morning.
the sounds of the earth beginning and waking up.
and your prayers are missed by me mostly,
yet thank you i must for this day as each day,
that try as i might
to navigate the inner waterways, the oceans mighty,
i always tend to forget, miss, really,
the sweet blooms in front of me.
The honeycomb face of a displaced yet ever so naughty monkey.
This fruit that i now bite into
and the thanks i slip past the crowding
for all your gifts to me.
Yes-
Thank you.

For the honey - lo!- came bitter,
and as the Beat of Us-
Heart - Charges On

We wondered - each - to the Other
How - do we - wait for
You - who have give and-

take- as the Breeze-
whispers past yet-
all that's being Heard-

is of this Frozen-
Caught in Tresses-
Believing that - You-

Would arrive-
at the Bugle's Cry-
of - Victory.

Yet past - This -
the little Ladybug-
and i - we -

Live ever - for
it too traipses off!-
amidst brushes and bushes,

not - wanting to -
fall in - to the
Lie of - Painting.
