It was twelve years ago today when I found you dead.
I knew you had died because you were lying lifeless on that hospital bed.
I bought you a card and a toy easter bunny that were buried with you.
If somebody ever says that you meant nothing to me, it won't be true.
When I prayed for your survival, I decided to beg.
You died after the surgeon amputated your leg.
Even though removing your leg improved your chances of survival, you still died.
When the surgeon operated on you, he couldn't save you even though he tried.
Your life ended and you entered the Pearly Gates 12 years ago today.
Rest in Peace, Mom, I wish I could've stopped you from passing away.
DEDICATED TO AGNES GREENE-JOHNSON (1948-2013) WHO PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 6, 2013.
So now you haunt hollow heart
Victory lap through each body part
I'll forever be etched with your name

I'd like to think you are high above
So removed I can't feel your love
I can't honestly make that claim

I'm not sure your soul is resting
I've seen no signs suggesting
Paradise is on the other side

You crossed over without a word
Goodbye ears have never heard
Still cannot believe you died
I still can't believe it even after two years

My body still carries the home I grew up in
I am still hiding from my father's anger
My mother's disappointment
Drowning them out was easier
When they did not speak with my own voice

I find myself saying "I wanna go home" a lot. But what do I mean by that? Cause I'm not talking about the home where I mix my flowing tears with the flowing water from the shower, or where I pray my headphones are charged so I can block out the loud arguments.

I'm talking about the home where I run into my dad's arms again when he gets home from work, where I can beg my mom to read me a story as I fall asleep, where I can laugh and not worry about how I'm gonna make it through tomorrow.

But that's impossible. I can't go back to where times were okay. I can't go back to where I felt okay. Because im here now. I'm here with the loud voices telling me to quit. I'm here with the laughter after I take the wrong step. I'm here where I would rather do anything but look at my dad.

I'm not home, I'm nowhere near it. But instead of saying that, I'll just tell myself one more time that I want to go home.

Even though I will never make it back home.
This is about my life at home. I have a loud dad who yells alot so I always have my headphones because I hate when people yell, and my mom passed away April 2023. This is me wishing that times could change and I could be happy like I used to
I wish I had told you that you were my best friend
Come to realize that fact now
After your life met it's end
Nothing said or done could ever bring you back
I still beg unseen forces to reverse your passing and unfade surroundings from black
Your death hit like a bullet straight through my chest
Here on out I'll continue bleeding every sentiment left unexpressed
I can't help feeling bitter towards the world turning round and round
For taking my heaven-sent angel and burying her in the cold ground
I wake each heavy morning and barely face the sun
Swept up in a hurricane but I seem to be the only one
Driving down an unpaved road no signs saying yield
Rain is crashing so hard I can hardly see through the windshield
And know if you were here you'd be encouraging me to keep fighting
I ****** myself bit by bit
Demise I'm expediting
I'm stranded on remote island surrounded by ocean of my fears
Beach shrinking as tide rolls in
Helplessly watch as all land disappears
It is not fair you deserted me in a barren expanse of loneliness
Wilting I long for the familiar warmth of your caress
Now aching hours are blistered by regret and rage
Heating shaky hands as I spill my story onto this page
Ready to give up what is there to continue breathing for?
Nothing lasts forever and I admit I simply don't want to anguish anymore
It's like I'm held underwater by a dozen unbreakable strings
Lay in bed when night falls tormented by sound of your laughter as it rings
How is it possible to be dead as my pulse simultaneously races
Feet exhausted from sprinting in circles over the same four bases
I once was aware of my worth
Moved with purpose and care
Presently time warps wasting away as I navigate this nightmare
Drinking nostalgia like alcohol
Enjoying shot after shot
Intoxicated with reminiscence
Drowning in love I have no longer got
I caught cranium on fire in attempt to warm up insides
Pursuing this glow your presence no longer supplies
Beneath sheets I roll until my limbs become a tangled mess
Dreams only location where I am briefly unshackled from distress
Speak to you sleeping then expect you to remain
Once eyes open you are left behind in another domain
Then experience you parting to the point like it was new
For one second I forget that there is no more you
And everything comes tumbling around me in a blink
Dire circumstances are slowly nudging me towards the brink
Trying to gain some distance between me and the edge of this cliff
Spent enough energy wrestling with two words
"What if?"
To taste that state of carefree bliss bathed in as a child
Unharnessed love shadowed me before innocence was defiled
Wrapped in an insatiable yearning for arms laid to ashes
No bandages or stitches are able to close up emotional gashes
I should have savored sweetness of your affection while I could
Every last bit of maternal nurturance is gone for good
Just talking to my mom

“Never love anyone more than yourself,”
Mom always said that to me.
When it came to relationships,
she always saved 10% of herself.

That’s where I got it from—
my issues to trust,
to give, and to
fully envelop myself.

She taught me to be cautious of
those I let into my life—
those who held knives behind their backs
and drew me in with sweet words.

She also taught me to stay strong,
that even if people left my life,
I was never alone.

Ma had her own struggles.
She never talked about it openly,
not even to Dad.
She kept the facade of a strong woman
and rarely shared her vulnerability.

It made me feel so invalidated
in my own struggles.
I felt isolated because I thought
I wasn’t supposed to feel this way.
Since she never shared her experiences,
I never knew she too
suffered.

She did a hell of a good job at it though,
better than me.
When it came down to it,
she never cried.
Not even when the dog died.

She wasn’t much of an emotional woman.
“Crying is for the weak.”
The worst part is…
I believed her.

The only reason she felt this way
was because, as a young girl,
she was never to share
her wars.

But when I see her dance—
oh, she shines so bright.
Her radiating aura
surrounds her.
I can feel it.
In the flicker of her eye,
in the rasp of her laugh,
I can see it.
In the lines of her smile
and her white hairs.
She’s just as young as she was
yesterday,
and the day before,
all the way to the little girl she used to know.

She’s everything she claims not to be…

i call you mother
but the words feel empty
like a hollow space,
full of echoes
your words, sharp as glass, cut deeper than silence
they've molded my bones
into walls i cant break
you hold no warmth
no love in your hands
only the weight of your shadow
the echoes of your cruel words
i hate the way you break me
but claim to love me all in one breath.
this basically somes up my relationship with my mom

you speak in flames,
your words a fire that burns everything i've ever been
each syllable is sharp,
a knife against the soft parts of me
the parts you never cared to see
you twist the truth
fists hidden in your voice,
each insult a stone
throwing me into a pit
of shame and doubt
i stand in your storm
a broken tree with roots to deep to leave
but each word you spit
feels like thunder clashing against my skin
i cant escape
the echoes of your rage
you tear me apart
but still, i ache for something
ill never get;
a whisper of love
a touch without hate
but instead i drown in your fury
and yet you never see the weight
of your own cruelty
the marks you leave with every breathe

but im learning to breathe without you,
to let your venom slip off my skin,
no longer clinging to the scars.
The scars you carved into my heart.
this poem is about me learning to develop and grow with the constant troubles my mom has caused me
Please don’t arouse
my anger
I don’t know
what I’ll do
If you threaten
My children
I might
Decapitate you

Please don’t arouse
My anger
Stay on
my Good side
Friend
If you arouse
My anger
It may mean
Your end
The noun love is one of the strongest things a person can possesses. Love is rivaled by few other emotions, anger being one. God forgive me for what I may do, if someone harms one of my children.
