A dark line snakes along the shoreline
Vanishing into a towering temple
Home to the finest Michelin cuisine
The ravenous crowd awaits, raven-clad, fangs out.

Chef Yukinosuke’s obnoxiously fragranced guests
Survived his expertly orchestrated dinner with death
They devoured his fugu main course, without remorse
******* with a familiar demon, gatekeeper to hell

Muffled screams can be heard behind the rice paper curtain
A clamor of voices arises, one can hardly maintain
The merciless knives wielders, red lips kissing bone
Eternally insatiable of sins they can’t atone

For. Yukinosuke adjusts the nori bond
Of this new victim, his room will be fond
One poised drop of noir caviar in her navel
Her scaled-tail undulates, tale-tell

Signs of her struggles before slaughter.
Queen of the seven oceans served with a side
Of whipped up seaweed cream from the tide
Her breast perspiring under a life-like lotus flower.

Before her, watering mouths stare in disbelief
***** men eye her perfectly tamed skin
A woman sadistically touches her finger to her shin
Yukinosuke’s knife glistens, still free from grief.

Marred mermaid munched at midnight
Lusterless tuffs of salt-streaked hair
Vanished into thin air.
A trampled on silky red ribbon in lieu of a gag
Remains. Her turquoise scales to be made into a bag.

Write a poem a day April challenge: Day 6: Write a food poem
Despite the tone of the poem, I'm no vegan, sushi is, sadly, one of my favorite dishes.

let me sing you a song
of a mermaid that once passed
can you not hear it
wailing in the distance?
by the raging seas
that was once calm waters
even after its last breath
the spirits of the waters it once swam on
still lingers in the oceans so deep
can my voice haunt you in your sleep?
even then listen to its calling
its sorrowful melody
how it’s missing the land
it never once kissed
remember the tune
so when you’re in need of company
come look up the moon
as it once became the light
of a lonely siren I came to be
this is how I miss you every night
I was always calling your name
but never heard by thee
as I have always been pleading
under the deep blue sea
'please remember me till you sleep'
This is for the love that cannot be. | 180402; 5:49 am

you kissed me at CODA
and I remembered who I was -
when the world was my ocean,
before they put me in a tank -
my soul was parched for open water
so you grabbed my face and
we dove down deep below
and in the deepest parts of the sea
we've found what we already know

We only realized we were holding hands when it was time to let go
She released my hand from her grasp and walked away.
The way her feet danced across the beach each step leaving an indent in the sand, the water washing it away moments later.
We drifted further as the water tore her from me
She returned to the sea where she belonged.
As she walked into the water I noticed she had scales
Blue scales where her legs once were
This is why she needed to go
Returning to her home
Into the sea
We only realized we were holding hands when it was time to let go
I go to the beach, the same one
Every day
Hoping
That one day,
She will return
I loved her
Wishing that I could follow her there
Deep into the sea
To see her once more is my dream
We only realized we were holding hands when it was time to let go…..

Hey there little siren,
Somewhere between girl and woman.
How you play,
Swim with the current,
And sing to those boys.
Honey, that bright smile could ****.
You'll be a heartbreaker someday.
Literally.
Those eyes could peirce men's souls,
But be careful
Don't play too hard
Mother always said don't play with
Your food.

As I open the rusted - thumb folded pages of your tales,
burdened with grief of your passing and stories that fail.
Oceans' might is the witness of your altruism ,
you've bent sky and straighten tentacles beyond reasons.
Known you since you were a mermaid and little,
until the curse turned you into black-ink celestial.

Holding kings pride; leaving Kingdom and passing Eric's heart to Ariel,
crowing yourself as the villain despite being the ocean's pearl.
Land only remembers the voice you burgled from Red,
Diluted in water; Fight for Triton's Life - a battle unsaid;
Lost father’s acceptance, Eric's love, and Vanessa's legs to run -
A cruse from Triton only Eric's kiss could have undone.

Oh Ursula, you forgot, Magic comes with a price,
you lost your tail and the throne for your sacrifice.
You raised him from dead, got him life,
destroying yours and the mirror's sight.
I wish I was there to rewrite it differently
but, I am only a freckle in someone’s imagination’s epiphany.
I always advocated those who never got a happy ending, I always wanted the villains to not have a experience the hatred from children, I was a fan of those who never played by the rules. Ursula, was a one of those that I thought deserved an acknowledgment if not an alternative ending per say.

when I die

turn my body into ashes

and

spread it over the ocean

so I can go home

after a lifetime of feeling

homesick

then she became a mermaid.

Run away with me,
Through the rivers and across the sea.
My legs leave foam.
Past the shore line,
Scales past my hips and up my spine.
Bubble my seaweed,
Let my song cause your ears to bleed.
Run away from the life you hate.
Remove your soul from here for a clean slate.
Dance through the tides and down the stream.
Return the stones we've cast and learn what they mean.
Run away from the love and the words,
Because I may love you but if you'd like then I'd give myself to the birds.
For your happiness,
For my soul,
Where anything else but you would be something I'd want so much less.
I want his happiness more than mine and that might be my downfall but I hope that makes me a good person. Naive, maybe.

Where do you go?
My soul shivers when I think -
The wind blows different when the moon is low.
Like the ocean,
Long blue waves sparkle under the heat of your sun.
But cold bones shine, waxing in the dead night's glow.
Except -
Underneath the surface, there's a lot that you don't know.
Undefined.
Do you water tall grass just to watch it grow,
Out of control?
Undeniable -
You'll always be a galestorm over a tugboat.
Sometimes I wish my fins were real,
So I could finally sing the way my heart sounds
So you'd finally know what if feels like
To be trapped in your undertow.
