Jo Barber May 2018
It's snowing in May.
What more is there really to say?
Droplets are drip-dropping on me
every which way.

I rush through the slippery streets,
and to my dismay,
I see a soaked-through toupee
on the head of a man having quite a bad day.

Oh, what a strange melee
is this snowy Tuesday.

May
If my mood is directly correlated to the weather,
and you are a man made in the likeness of a long winter,
how did we ever plan for this to unfold neatly?
As the sun comes back to me,
you retreat to the corner of my closet,
tucked behind downy coats and borrowed sweaters.

When will April Showers
Bring me some May Flowers?
My buds all but cower;
Dormant even in spring.

When will June's desire
Bring me July's fire?
Warmth could take me closer
To when we both were kings.

Summertime is coming;
When spring comes I will sing:
Take it easy, Lover,
Until I find my wings.
Wait for me.

I saw you in a sunny day,
Your eyes are bright as May,
You brought me my spring,
Ended my heart’s wind,
You brought me to life, you healed my heart,
You didn’t let the devil to reoccupy my mind.

Lowdown storm on horizon,
Bringing odious poison,
I am full with dreadful notion,
That taking its brutal action,
Break my chains; release my soul,
Save my spring that I live for.

I've seen it now
mentioned twice
by poets in their lines

somehow I must have
missed
this mission that was assigned

I guess I wasn't quite
paying enough
attention

boy! I sure hope
I don't end up
in detention

I must have fallen asleep
in class

whoops!

better behave
cause
this way I'll never pass

I just found out
about
April's poem a day

oh well, too late now
perhaps I'll try it in May
After I posted, I looked. Quite by accident, I have written a poem every day so far. Of course, it's only the 7th!

Don't tell your best friend,
She may become your enemy,
Your deepest secrets.
Brenda Mukisa Mar 2018
she'd watched him.
first from a distance
then up close.....

now, she'd talked to him even.
She had fought for him.

I did not get your name.....
Brenda.
......
then, she walked away.

My days lately
have been sad, and dark and grey
I hope to find better, brighter days
maybe in the month of May

April hasn't come yet
but I'm prepared for oncoming showers
maybe all the clouds I see over my head
are just trying to water my flowers

The flowers that were frozen over
in the harsh month of December
the ones I've buried deep, deep down
the ones I can't remember

I know that the day will come
when all my flowers can finally bloom
I hope that time comes to me soon
but if not in May, then maybe June
sunflower Feb 2018

I wish I may,
I wish I might,
give you the stars,
in the sky tonight.
For just another night, and I thought of you.
