in the street
the pavement is wet
sloping hill, up to your house
brown, dying leaves
surrounding our warm bodies
car pulls up
we don't even notice

we lay

on the stained carpet
in the basement
apart from anything else
lights are off
playlist, ours
heads pressed together
one in the morning
you tell me who you were
and who you are
i follow suit, blindly
i trust you
with everything

we lay

on your bed
there's no bed frame
just a mattress and some pillows
my head is spinning
i felt like i was dreaming
afraid i would wake
and you'd be gone
our music still on

we lay

Ethereal bubbling from below
pressed together rosebuds drifting down
as silk snakes into the soul.

Millions of matchsticks ignite your bones
and a crashing wave of goosebumps invades
while the wide world begins to glow.

And you don't know just where to begin
so you lay back and let your mind flow.

surrendering to the angel you send in the night
tarnishing night with stars you set, of mementos, gems
sweetened into being by the heat of unknown
fun in the warning
sun in the worsening
need to see the warm winds
in your hair, see it myself
my vigil, diadem is a pen
decrees are on each page
that summer endings and I
lay down to
- it's dreaming
of the soul that holds my soul

We lay. I stare...
as if I asked a question.
She answers with a smile...
like she knew my intention.

This is something new.
Something so unique.
Right then I should've knew..
Here's one I need to keep.

Still silent as a mime...
We lay. I stare
At who I now call mine.

Sun shines bright, cool winds blows
thought tall leafing trees.
Feeling so lazy!

lay with me
under the stars
tonight
they shine ever so brightly
for you and i

Loaf with dignity
and stretch out with long elegance
Rest with intentionality
and stop with full confidence

Pit stop with tenacity
and pause with perfect poise
Lie with all honesty
shut out the demanding noise
and soak in the inner stillness -

for your rest is essential before activity
your meditation before mobility
your self before any sway
over the crowd's frenetic insensitivity.

And oh, the clouds!

Look,
you have the clouds!
Horizontal is essential for a full life.

The dust that lay on the page
that I left open long ago
is now a page on it’s own,
with a story its own.
I look at it and read
negligence and loneliness.
I read how things are forgotten
so easily
and how things are treated as things
by people who
live their life accumulating things
and rest half of it
misplacing, destroying,
replacing and forgetting them.
How people are treated on similar lines
but worse.
How we come back to claim our possessions
when they can clearly exist better
without us.
