When I asked for advice they said:
“Stuck between two, who would you choose? The one that you love? Or the one that loves you?”
And I chose to break the heart of the one who loved me, to stay near the one I love.
But he too was faced with this decision, and he too chose the one he loves.
And now here I am
Alone &
Broken-hearted

Force a smile
and stand up straight
first leg's a mile
ready at the gate

Please do not worry
if you cannot relate
we're off in a hurry
it's sort of innate

To leap and bound
and always be late
but always be running
it's sort of our fate

To run and never get there
to die and never know where
or why our fate is unfair
or if you ever did care
I'm exhausted

Your too late,
Now you have to hurt.

Just like I did.

You still wonder,
what time I get home,
who I was with,
what I was doing.

You ask these questions,
like you're still my partner,
my lover,
my one and only.

Yet you are no longer entitled to.
You made the choice,
to let me go,
to betray me,
to let me down.

I made the mistake.
By sharing,
my night adventures,
late shenanigans.

I succumbed to answer to you.
Because I know you worry.
I know you care.

It comes off as a judgment now,
a scolding,
a lecture.

There is no "us" anymore.
Time to keep my lips sealed,
shut in time,
lock and keyed.
When you share things with your ex and you realized you've said too much.

You can't uncover the future
If you never tease your fate
Knock the door you want now
Before it becomes really late
Love can happen with a glance
When your courage is the bait

Rainy nights
Dark and cold
Alone on the road
Tires swerve
out my lane onto the curve
Goodbye to my only friend
The end

You fly freely
With no rules
Your wings out like flags
On a windy day
Seeing sights along the way
How does it feel
To have a taste of what’s real
Lucky birds man
