When did “people deserve to live” become a controversial thought?

When did wearing a mask to protect your health become so overwrought?

When did the idea of protecting your kids become an afterthought?

When did counting the dead become a Presidential political plot?

We’re so far down the Trump-rabbit-hole that common sense is skewed.

We really have to get rid of that FU#KH3@D - if you’ll excuse me being rude.
America, under Trump, has lost it's common sense

You've heard it before
Most likely from a small child
"When I grow up"
And from the perspective of a child that statement is full of hope
It's the ultimate goal
It's their own personal victory

But one day you look at yourself
And you realize you have grown up
And maybe you're lucky and you've achieved your goals
But for most maybe you never did

Maybe you tried and gave it all you had
Only to feel left out in the cold
Maybe you changed your mind
Of maybe you just grew old

My son
My first born child
How quickly you grew to be
So independent
So eager
So hilariously funny
Almost 11yrs now
You never fail to succeed
Emotions overtake you
But sometimes, it's what we need

My son
My first born child
Keep growing
Keep learning
Keep your soul wild
To my baby boy. Mommy will always be your fail net.

I stopped by an old candy store the other day
The same one my parents took me to when I was a kid
Old man Joe still recognized me as the lad who bailed his hay
We chatted for a little and then he asked for some help unloading a skid

His daughter Tracy of whom I went to school with was already in the back there
She was complaining about how her dad should get new candy to fill all the empty beams
I stayed for another hour or so, we cached up as old friends do, she told me her dreams of being the mayor of our little town. Before I left her Dad asked us what kind of new candy he should get.
Without hesitation we both grinned and shouted Jellybeans.

Something that day must have created a spark, because ever since then I held her close to my heart
A few years later, we had our wedding at the old store, we even ran away after on a horse.
Who could of known a place like this, could leave such a big mark
Perhaps the best part was being asked what he had for dessert, we both smiled said Jellybeans of course.

Today she lives her dreams as mayor, while I run Grandpa Joe's candy store.
We expanded a little and even took up a space for ice cream
We have one on the way and another who just turned four
And although Tracy can't help too much anymore, I have help from our little one, of whom we call Jellybean

Do you remember when we were just kids?
When there was nothing in the whole world that we missed?
We would only need each other
and the garden of your mother
Tell me; do you remember this?

Do you still hear our voices when we sang?
Or ever think back to our wildest dreams and plans?
All our talks about this life
and almost everything that comes with it
Tell me; do you remember this?

Of how this world has changed
But I still feel the same

You're the one I want to call
when a piece of me falls out of place
You make a rainy day feel better
'cause there's sunlight in that smile on your face

When we're old and when we're grey
and we're living miles and miles away
You will still be in my heart
And if you'd call me up, you'd hear me say:

Don't you know the day I lose you
is the day I lose a part of me too?
And don't you see that life is special
but it wouldn't be as special without you
The taste on my tongue brings forth feelings of cold creamy goodness.
On a hot summers day, you get sticky fingers and lips as the substance drips down our chins.
Different flavors to chose from...rocky road, mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, Neapolitan ice cream.
Sweet and soft as we share it with our lover, friends, family or dog.
Kids yearn for this sweet joy of a treat that we love to scream for.
Ice cream.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

memories of yesterday, we were kids
an hour would last for days
the taste of a candy meant the world to us

robocop, a father figure
two dollars stood for the eternity of luck
simple things counted

finding a piece of wood in the park
stones, bluely shimmering
an undisguised smile

social condemnation was a strange term
struggle and love grief far away
our friendship, my brother

rest in peace
i will never forget you
we will meet again
Today is a sad day.

when the kids were young,
invested in fancy luggage,
cause we needed vacations
to get away from them.

These luggages,
had them roll to the number combination numbers locks
which was where technology
was back in
the nineteen eighties,
when I was a
young husband and father,
using the year of their birth
as a four digit code

of course, I programmed
them both incorrectly,
and they, those kids,
now adults maybe,
who can’t remember anything good
I’ve ever done for them,
but remind every time
they come to see me,
which is pretty much never,
about ******* up the year
of their naissance,
which is a
fancy french word,
for
“kids are a pain in the ***“

What do you do when you are very happy?
I.....jump, sing and dance with them heartily.
What makes you feel better when you are very sad?
I.....hug them and close my eyes for a moment stealthily.

They say that children are God sent angels.
And I am blessed with two precious jewels.

When the world doesn't acknowledge me with the tag of an average culinarian,
They say "you are a great chef"!
When my day is pale and grim
They brighten the day with their priceless grin.

When someone taunts me to be a lazy lady
They say....how hard you work mom for us and daddy.

They are my motivator and the lucky charms.
I find happiness in their pure arms.
Their smile, touch and care can only give solace when in dearth.
This is the best gift for a mom on earth.

How I wish this crystalline love for their mother stays with them forever....
Hope they do not get manipulated when they start chasing the materialistic pleasure.

They are my biased children and I am their selfish mother,
Who will always want her angel kids to remain pure as they are.

I see it, right there.
That faint glimmering in your eyes.
It’s hope,
It’s inspiration,
No wait, it’s love?

It’s everything.

I see everything in your eyes.
I see long nights,
Early mornings, and
Sweet memories.

I see Leonine taking his first steps,
I see Luna on her first day to school,
I see two hands ring clad interlocked.

I see us,
And to me,
That’s everything.

Do you see it?
That sparkle in your eyes when you look at me.
I see it,
And I love it.

I love everything,
I love you,
I love us.

My one and only,
My love,
My everything.

That’s what I see.
