“Alright, enough - let me stop looking”
through the feed:
where they went
what they ate
who they saw
where they spent

is it just me or
does it seem uncanny
that I am the only one
feeling more lost
as I enter
my virtual scrapbook

my ups and downs
unfurl and curl me around
after merely twenty minutes,
activating to navigating
surreptitiously agitating

“I wonder how he’s doing
oh how about her too”
through the feed:
how they snapped
what they chatted
seems nosey but just
want to stay in the loop

it is just me or
does it seem melancholy
that I am the only one
feeling more lost
as I leave
my inner diary

wanting to restart:
empty
and
    unscathed

little did you know
seeing your name across

he followed me back on instagram:)

As the line between our private lives,
& the public eye blurs,
all the old paradigms dissolve,
& nothing becomes as it was before,

only a few months more,
to get this riddle solved,
feeling like The Batman The Joker,
& Lois Lane all rolled in one,

my new name is Nigiri,
on a roll hot like wasabi,
my threads are all designer,
& my hobbies are all hobbies,

I am definitely not sure at all,
well at least definitely not probably,

babbling’ with talking heads,
while jousting with the walking dead,
because we’re up right now up right now,
that's right the life of the party,

& you all probably already know all this,
because the whole time was Live recording,
Instagram Live Streaming all the time,
I'm dreaming at the same time touring,

every moment recorded,
even when it's not at all important,
off script but don't trip,
because we're still part of the program,

so before I even wake up,
you already know the whole thing,
you already know what happened,
the night before the morning,

the Knight Before The Mourning,

sounds a bit prolific & prophetic,
at least a little bit don’t you think,
but what’s it matter the least little bit, if no one takes the time to think,

they’re just getting their nails done,
in the salon in the bottom of the boat,
as it sinks & we just think,
“Well I hope at least the lifeboat floats”,

in a bit of a panic,
like Leo in the Titanic,
searching for my romantic Winslet,
before we both sink in this disaster,

see I see you drowning in this sea,
& I still love you even after everything,
so I swim over & my hand I outreach,
hoping you'll grab hold before you sink,
so I can backstroke with you on my back,
& swim us both to an island beach,

specifically Leo's island,
you know the one Blackadore Caye,
he actually asked me to run the island,
said it was just a bunch of palm trees,

& I know this is reality,
even though it all feels like a dream,
so I close my eyes pray for better times,
then open my eyes to focus & blink,

blink,

blink,

blink,

blink,

the camera is always on,
the recording is always running,
this is layer cake no this is pound cake,
no this is the first ring around the onion,

onions in the sink,
got my eyes running made me think,
turned the water off got a wash cloth,
then took a moment to blink,

blink,

blink,

blink,

blink,

as the line between our private lives,
& the public eye blurs,
all the old paradigms dissolve,
& nothing becomes as it was before,

only a few months more,
to get this riddle solved,
feeling like The Batman The Joker,
& Lois Lane all rolled in one,

Clicking fingers typing away feelings
Sad-mad clad with smiles publicly exposed
"Imma look happy" your pic says in post,
Yet in another, as though leaves falling.
Feed filled with furious, angry words that mock.
Subtly seeking gentle tap on the back
Or bent down of head for a slight mild whack
Fast-paced tapping, eyes on screen round the clock.
Go away then from that white bird and "f."
Strike a match. Turn to ashes that pink cam.
Unglance from the ghost feat dog-faced pictures.
Enjoy, run around, show off that quiff.
Strive, be on top of things, as though a ram.
The world ain't just ones and zeros but pastures.

I went to the bottom
Of your Instagram
Today.
Two years ago.

I looked at the
Black and White picture
You took of me
On the Ferris Wheel.

All I could think was,
Poor girl, Foolish girl,
Stop that smiling like you love him,
He's going to shatter you.

we know how to love
we just don't want to
- relax
It's 2017.
We're all capable of feeling
just scared to feel the same thing.
Love is for the weak.
Sins are for the blind.
Tinder matches, face to face
"I'm just here for a good time"
I can read through all your posts
secretly we're lonely
You favorited my tweet
so I guess that means you want me
We've seen it all
it's nothing new
So please hide all your demons
Choose your insta caption wisely
Darling,
love is not in season

Listen, if I’m willing to talk to you, will you listen like you always do?
It has been quite hard for me to acknowledge the fact that we’re through.
Saw a few of your pictures on Instagram and Facebook, I’m glad to see that you’ve finally found someone new.
I wish nothing but love and happiness for the both of you, I really do.
At the end of the day, I’m so glad that I got the chance to have met you.
There’s this girl who has made me realise that maybe I don’t have to die to get to heaven.
Her beautiful cocoa butter skin proves that her complexion is truly a blessing.
It doesn’t matter which book I’m reading; her love is the scripture that my heart believes in.
She is simply a poem with feet, her soul is well-versed in love so eventually I asked her to walk with me.
It has been quite hard for you to acknowledge the fact that we’re through.
You’ve commented on my pictures on Instagram and Facebook, you’re glad to see that I’ve finally found someone new.
I’d tell you more about her and maybe show you what she means to me, but that’s a poem for another day.
I hope the person that you’re currently with has made you believe in the essence of true love again.
Because you deserve something better than lonely nights saturated with pain.
I’m happy for the both us, glad that we’ve managed to find happiness again.
We can’t change what happened in the past, we were teenagers back then.

I would’ve never been included in any of your pictures – you’d always find a way to crop me out.
I’ve had enough of this digital love, a love that’s constantly controlled by social media standards and faulty algorithms.
We made memories that not even Facebook can remember and captured moments that can’t be found on Instagram.
I would go back to being yours in a heartbeat just to hear the sound of my heart beat.
Just to hear my heart beating to the rhythms that are foreign to my existence.
Everyone knows that I’m a lover without a lover but never loveless.
I’m a heartbroken lover that’s wondering how to fix my heart’s mess.
I want to go back to the day when we first fell in love with one another.
I pray that there’s a chance that we’ll both manage to work it out someday.
I pray that all my doubts, fears and insecurities don’t ever prey on me.
As of late, our conversations are starting to feel a lot more like interviews.
Dive into the depths of my heart and mind and get a glimpse of my inner views.

I now seem to notice the soft brown-red veins on a fake rose

When I'm in the car the green light is blue
as I move from plastic windows to plastic Barbie models
shades of red turn into lip injections

But removing glass from mascara lashes
leave paper cuts on nimble perfect hands
inside the camera, corrections were already being made
never will I step into a field with Instagram likes as bait
don't take your glasses off.
