my lover
he once told me
that he would like to be tattooed onto me
but between my ribs pounding with the octaves of his words
my skin delirious for his curious touch
and
my mind
immersed with the thrill that he brought forth
I forgot to tell him

I forgot to tell him that I didn't like tattoos
- on the new lover

I longed for you
As a poet would
Over his elusive villanelle

I longed for you
As the Sun would
Daft love for end of day

I longed for you
As Spring would
Showers of June to rain

I longed for you
As my love brood
Incessant and partly gray

Pray ardourous affection pull you in
And treat my throbbing heart of May !
Infatuation for someone I had a crush on.

True love develops trust,

infatuation leads to blind faith.

I was sinking in the cloud
searching for you
The birds were chirping
Wait, could it subdue?

I glimpsed you once or twice
in all your glory
I was sure it was love -
like a happy ending story

You poured on warmth on me
Wrapped me up with affection
Us lying, you made the confession

We danced all night
and told our stories

I woke up falling
Hit the ground
It hurt a lot, but I stood up

I saw you there,
at the end of the street
it seemed you had fallen
even harder than me

I approached you slowly,
fixed you with a gaze
I tried to touch you,
but you ran away

I see stars in your soul, oceans roaming, forests wandering
I see a potential in you, growing like a flower bud, prospering to its full capacity
You bring me home, like the ocean adjoining itself to land
You smell of fresh parchments and still logs being ignited with fire
Fire in our souls, we burn bright into the long awaited night
You’re like a lantern in the night, outshining the gloom within
You remind me of a vast land carpeted with tulips and forget me nots
Voice through a landline, your voice reminds me of a comforting cup of hot chocolate
You bring back the childhood in me, pretty little memories
Touch me with ease, bring numbness to my tragedies
You cause a rebirth in me, with extra new-fangled emotions in me
You revive me from the death of ever feeling again
and now I’m feeling everything in you.

Joy Apr 2020
An incomplete list
of my modest pleasures may consist of:

unninterrupted sleep at night,
time to lay in bed in the morning,
the coffee machine's murmur,
the odd taste of coffee,
the odd taste of water,
homemade jam,
finishing a piece of work,
swimming or floating in water,
books with appealing hard covers,
good books,
good stories told well,
walking in a park or forest,
cold, wet, spring air,
warm feet,
standing by a river,
listening to rivers go,
looking up to tree tops hiding the sky,
blue skies,
green grass,
sunlight on the face,
courageous flowers blooming,
a hat that fits,
shoes that fit,
clothes that fit,
charming someone kind,
being charmed by someone kind,
first kisses,
eager *******,
joyful ***,
speaking with an old friend,
speaking with a close friend,
speaking with a funny friend,
being kindly teased,
holding a friend's hand,
good music,
dancing,
singing,
sending and receiving postcards,
completing a piece of work,
rain on windows,
washed clothes and sheets,
showers
flowers in pots and vases
and you.
....
Out of all the earthly pleasures
I believe I want you most of all,
my dear, my sweet.

I'm the kind of poetry that moves you,
I'm your favourite song on a long ride,
I'm a soulful dancer stimulating all your hidden instincts,
and I'm the taste of red wine after the second glass.

Good luck resisting me.

If it melts faster
than ice cream on
a summer afternoon
it isn't love

If it sticks to
the roof of your mouth
like peanut butter
it isn't infatuation
