I don't owe you anything for what I've
"put you through"
So what if I like my head shaved?
So what if I like having metal adorning my face?
So what if I like to wear what I want?
So why not express my inner creativity on the outer surface?
Am I not to be happy in my own skin?
I nurture who I am
I love the way I look
And I am not sorry that being true to myself offends you
Mom
Just be happy I still want to be in your life
Be happy with me
And take me as I am or not at all.
To all those narrow-minded people,
******* all in the ******

Small moments alone
Enjoyed deeply by the soul
So contented
To be navigating through life by
Dancing on tip-toes in circles
To music no man can hear
Down this back alley
That is life
My favorite poem I have ever written.

Rise, rise, out of the caverns of darkness,
through lives, unfolds your immortal journey

Collapsed field         Vast to small        particular                    blabberings
chosen timeline         growing ego        wonder, wonder        to structure

through vales sunny at times, but
through the vaults of obscurity often

Scribblings                 crowd of faces     men, trees,                 flowers
to consonants             to family              birds and beats         butterflies

grounded in the light ancient,whose
descension is all the souls that set out

Autumn leaves          Seasons                      tastes, smells         one of a kind
rainbow joy                of sun and snow      sound of music      for all things

before the dawn of time, branching out
into segmented existences, in a quest for Self.

regimen          run, roll,               infant bondings           slow march of
and play        skip and hop          friendships                 the little man
Next up in the #Hermit series, this is the 2nd in the mystical retro-reflection segment ruminating on the journey of the soul.

The technique used is an interspersal of a series of spiritual couplets with Pointillist exposition of the growth of the little man...

Each life is nothing but a small snowflake.

Each is unique,
beautiful,
fragile,
and soft.

Each lasts for merely a moment in time,
but its impact lasts.

Each can create dangerous blizzards,
only when many decide to hate.

But.

Each can create a soft snowfall,
as beautiful as a White Christmas,
when many decide to love.

So.

Life can be a snowstorm
or
a tranquil snowfall.
An analogy with life through snowflakes.

Like water, humans are
Or like white sheets
Waiting to be painted.
Between the endless 'individuals',
They're waiting to be labelled.

So asked,
Where are you from or
Who taught you?
Before they registered
An official name.
But not how they act
Nor what they like.

So will you
Lead the group
Because you are commited
Or for free tickets?
Liars will answer.
If you don't?
You're selfish?
Or are you one with disability?

Like echoes,
But not music they bought.
Humans will listen to echoes,
And start to copy each other.
Label, re-writing.
Laughing. Worshipping. Ignoring.
That's how,
An individual was created.

These days it seems everyone is striving to be weirder than the next.
Conformity is boring.
Why not just start walking without asking for directions?
You are gathered chemicals,
Wriggling and tearing through quantum space.
Coincidence is fated upon by each of those steps you take.
Careful when you look the other way
As you learn to trust your sight
Don't fear that darkness, it is only a perception of light.

Minions marching to the pied pipers flute.
Sheep herded, dressed in fancy suits.
Walking amongst the crowd.
I wonder if I'm allowed.
To buck the trend.
The rules we bend.
When It's hard for us to compute.
"Hah! You look so ridiculous!
What are you, some sorta freak?"

"Well, you look so status-quo,
very much like everyone else.
Wearing this, I'll meet interesting people,
wearing that, you'll meet boring people.
To be certain,
I am at least one kind of freak,
but at least I serve to entertain:
you're welcome for the free smile."
Life is the biggest Festival:
Dress accordingly.

They were made,
Once love,
Now fade,
Again they face
The pen,
Now afraid.

Society defines beauty as perfection, but
I am here to submit a correction
This newly improved definition states:
Beauty is found in the thing that deviates
Deviates from the code that is implied, not written
The code that is followed, even by children

Real beauty is sometimes hidden
Look for the thing that's a little bit different
The thing that breaks society's norm
The one that takes the path unworn
Like the crazy color of your hair
Or the freckles you have everywhere

We each have something unique and wonderful
Which makes every one of us truly individual
Not one person is a copy of another
Yet in one word I could define us together:
*beautiful
I absolutely hate when society tells young girls they have to wear makeup, or that boys have to have a perfectly sculpted body to be "hot"

The other day, my six year old cousin told me that she hates herself because she's "fat"... SHE IS NOT. She only said it because she hears her mom call herself fat all the time.

IS THIS WHAT WE'RE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN?

Rant over. Thank you for reading ♥
