Rocks ripple my river reflection
as amber and caramel leaves spiral
from sleeping oaks
landing atop water as lily pads
and clothing my mirror image.
I envy the resting trees,
tucked in for the winter.
The place exists somewhere, I just have to find it.

Thatched roof gazebo, ocean air
The plastic of the chair
Tanned, beige to a tad bit brown
The sunning shows wear, but no tear

The view of the sea
From the highway
Foaming, white lather cream
A dreamer’s dream, within

The canoe, rightly placed
The blue of it juxtaposed
To the green of sea and the trees
A journey to begin

We were best friends.
Lovers to be exact.
I trusted you,
You carried me,
We shared our life in unity.
Until one day they told me
You were failing me.
You weren’t good enough,
Were flawed.
Rather than staying by your side,
Standing up for you,
Defending our truth,
I let them dictate our fate.

You became the enemy.
A war ensued.
I raged against you frantically.

Now here we are,
Decades later.
The damage is immense.
Mounds of shattered memories,
Broken kinship,
Crippled happiness.
A life of hatred and of pain.

Yet you did not combat me.
You rose above the torture and disdain.
You chose to be my soldier,
Be my armor,
Be my base.
You waged this war beside me,
As the fiercest shield of all.
A shield of unwavering,
irrefutable,
Unconditional love

So who’s the one who failed the other here?

They say its all because I reflect the traits so true,
Little do they know.
It’s a fake picture long back which I drew.
They say I am the same,
I am the same badge holder,
Little do they know.
New expectations are like boulder.
They say I won’t change,
That they can still trust me,
Little do they know.
Its a fake picture, It’s a stuck mask.
Who am I under?
Is still unkown at last!
Little do they know,
Little do they know.

In the beginning the sky was cold butter,
hard and riddled with kernels of corn,
which, as the world heated, popped:
And thus the clouds were born.

You know when you create this image in your head
Even though you don't want to
Because you're afraid of how you'll feel when that image completely shatters?
And you know that it will because that's just not how things are.
It's how things could be,
But probably not how they will be.
Wishful thinking. A fantasy.
