that i don't want to remember
i want to forget them

it's 2 a.m.
i should be asleep
but i'm awake
thinking about you
writing about you

you are the darkness
that comes from the outside
it reminds me of an empty canvas
where i get to mentally draw a picture
of your features
on its blank surface
i still remember all of them

the things you hate about yourself
are the reasons i'm in love with you
the fact that you don't see yourself
the way i see you
hurts me so much
your love makes me want to be a better person
your eyes make me feel at home
because home is whenever i'm with you
you make me feel safe
i wish you'd believe me

how my fingernails take off my skin at night
or how i leave bruises in places i hate

i still want to scream about how i don't use knives, anymore

but i don't want you to mistake a poem
for an instruction manual

two syllables
never left your tongue
you sung it
like a song
stuck in your head

a constant reminder
that I was the one
you were talking to
when you followed
with three more words

it was never the way
you said my name
but the way
you never made me
forget it

In so many different ways.

With you, I had no sight
I was left blind

to only flinch
