Time lapses, as quick sands sift from flask to flask,
Half empty - a flick of the wrist - half full;
Hours of glass, ground into powder, measuring my frailty.

'He dreamed of deserts and great empty cities and imagined he could feel the minutes and hours of his life running through him, as though he were nothing but an hourglass of flesh and bone.'
- Laini Taylor, Strange the Dreamer
Philosophers and sages too
Enjoy the focused powers
And the mystic natural beauty
Of the early morning hours

I greet the sunrise with a smile
Each day this precious wonder
Displays for all, both small and great
For those who rise from slumber

The quiet of the peaceful morn
Engages all my senses
Provides me light and clarity
To cut through life’s pretenses

The morning hours bring inner joy
Rhythm matching Mother earth
True wealth imbues into my flesh
When I witness each day’s birth

I've always loved being up in the morning hours. The calm and focus and perspective allow me to enjoy more of the day. I also appreciate the connection with nature by watching the sky slowly lighten into a beautiful sunrise.

Sages, saints, and philosophers the world over have praised the benefits of the morning hours. Read the poem below and gain the benefits of matching the rhythm of earth and sun.

Three hours away
It's been a couple days
It's hard to be apart for this long
It just feels so wrong
You are the love of my life
My future wife
So why are we separated
Yea we made it
But now I'm alone
Wishing you would pick up the phone
Please don't give up on me
I know it's hard to be
Three hours away
But it'll be okay
I love you
I know you love me too
So ima get some sleep tonight
And in the morning things will be alright
I might not get to wake up to you
But one day I'll be able to
After all you're only
Three hours away
This distance is killing me...

please let me lay by your side for hours that stretch into years, we can talk about thousands of nothings that make us comfortable so we can have a lifetime of somethings with meaning
Meaning is not always surface

A peaceful mind
Because it's years
And years
Of nonthinking
Thought

Free of judgement
And greatly
At a price
Often bought
Tuesday 12 - Back when you're just starting out. You know nothing... And that is great.

I see you watch me in the evening
wondering if I'm leaving
as golden light streams
through the clouds in the ceiling

With your eye on my garden
full of colours to plunder
you're staring at me
with a poisonous wonder

My alpine glen isn't your first rodeo
glaring, cradling my first magnolia
Still, I don't hold back or shrink like a mimosa
I won't pull away as you get closer

Just don't chase me - I've no flight
I'm a bird of paradise
Some musings from the botanic garden today

Days turn to hours,
Hours to minutes,
Minutes to seconds.
Time slips away,
Faster and faster with every moment,
Until I'm stranded without you.

How many hours
spent scribbling these poems?
How many days wasted
rereading them,
nudging and prodding
each word into its proper place
until it all flowed and sounded...

still not quite right.
