I hope that deer in the road
In the afterlife has fun
I hope those moths by the light
Get an eternity of sun

I hope that lonely old lady
Gets to reunite with her lover
I hope that man who had to sit in the rain
Will always, above his head, have a cover

I hope the rainbow everyone admires when they see
I hope its colors never fade
I hope the dolls the girls wanted
I hope they never stop being made

I hope the ocean waves they splashed in
I hope they never stop being rode
I hope the stories that inspire others
I hope they never stop being told

And I hope when I take my final breath
I get to see that beautiful sky one last time
And I hope this dream is never taken away
Even though it was never mine
this is my 21st poem, created on 8/18/23.

Trees
With outstretched limbs
like arms reaching
to the sky in gratitude
giving praise for the day
Teach me too
to be grateful like you
Teach me to soak up the sun
and to be green and alive
with the memory of thankfulness

i’ve worked hard for you
so why is it hard to do?
to sprinkle a tiny smile here
and give me a little gratitude
i’ve showered you with love
and compassion in heavy amounts
yet somehow, and someway
the words don’t come outta your mouth
is a “thank you” too much to ask?
so whats clogging up your throat?
can’t you just say a word of thanks?
or an act of gratitude on that note.
why are the two words
always replaced
with an “ok” or a “why”
or a “so? anyways”?
i don’t really get
what’s going on in that head
but i guess i’ve got to accept it
and take the ‘thank you’ that’s unsaid
This was written after I tried to help somebody and he just said 'Ok'. Felt kind of mad because he said 'thank you' to another person TWICE and not once to me?
The progress is slow but perpetual
Impassioned as well as habitual
Avoid second guessing
To honor the blessing
And live every day like a ritual
