Afraid of uncertainty,
Should I walk heads up,
Face the monsters along the way?
Or skip to the easy part,
Join everyone else;
Walk the path that everyone crossed on,
With everything gained but fulfillment

My best friend had just gone to get pizza, left me in the car. I put my feet up and sat back lighting a cigarette, feeling the smoke heavy and dense in my lungs, piling on top of the remains from the joint we had just finished. I was sitting in the centre of Rome, looking out the car window up at the tall buildings, fading colours and dim lights, accompanied by the live music from a nearby restaurant.
I remember closing my eyes for a second, realising the state of happiness and tranquillity I had reached. The reassurance of just knowing that my friend would be back any minute, with that huge smile of hers and pizza in her hand yelling my name. Just the idea of that happening was enough to make me giggle. The tranquillty of knowing that I was home, of knowing that wherever we were together could be made home, of knowing that we were about to meet with more poeple that made me feel that way, of knowing how ******* lucky I was, of finally knowing that feeling of pure happiness. I don't think everyone is lucky enough to feel this way. I don't think it's common at all; to be so in touch with the people around you, to be so accepted and to feel so much love. I had never felt more at home; and it was that overwhelming sense of feeling complete, of finding that inner peace, that was the best feeling I have ever felt.

Caring and Sharing Is What Love Is All About**

Love can never be negotiated, because it has no immunity
by its merit the world exists, in an atmosphere of continuity
while war kills and spreads tragedy, love rescues to repair
healing broken hearts, removing all forms of grief and despair

Love can never be underestimated, its power is generated by a higher source
just when you think it's over, unity and hope are at the center driving this force
loneliness, despair, unhappiness, these sad feelings always seem to renew
until love once again comes to the rescue, in healing you through and through

Love can never be something more than you want it to be, because it cannot survive alone
if you think that it can be controlled, you'll ultimately find yourself lost in the twilight zone
here lies the caveat, despite your attempts, love cannot be tailor made it defies definition
in pursuing love your selfish character traits you must discard, a necessary precondition

Love can never be more than it is, being the only way to live a life that's worth living
but only when you cultivate this trait of sharing, because you can't love without giving
when you mature, right and wrong becomes your focus, selfishness begins to crumble
interacting with people your heart now stirs, feelings of happiness found in being humble

Unknowingly you've taken one step closer, in preparation to become one with another
finally reaching that maturity needed, focusing from I to we, finding your one true lover
love, that until now you held for yourself, finally giving it the only true fulfillment in your life
the ultimate expression of love and happiness is now yours, as a caring mother and loving wife
This is a short poem about what love can and cannot be

It's only during the times
We are close do I feel
I can boast about
How I do not fear
About today or tomorrow
Because on each new morning
There's something to
Look forward to
And fulfill
And I've always had that
In myself, yet I didn't know it
All it took was
Your kind words and company
For me to show it
A poem I wrote last year in the fall of 2014

I soaked myself
in your pleasure:

sounds,
dripping like images
from your lips

No sooner had I drained you
and filled myself
than your half expired
body came alive

and, I,
already bloated,
asked for more

Abandon me
so I may postpone
this satisfaction
and
for an irrelevant time alone
subsist on nothing
but my starving need
for your fulfillment

I love the night sky
Dark but not empty
Mysterious and deep
I don’t want the starlight
Cold and far away
Bright like hope
Like empty promises

A streak of starlight came
I hated starlight more
But I realized
Starlight makes me see
Through the deep dark sky
I hated it no more
It’s your dream to be reached
It’s the fulfillment not hope.

A wish like a wild fire,
kept burning inside her heart,
she couldn't contain it any more,
so  whispered it to the heart of night,
fearing it would be forgotten easily
as the night advances to a destination unknown.

But the first golden ray of morning light, she gathered
was the sweet fulfillment she didn't know she sought all these days.

melancholy wind
moans off the hilltop
grass responds in rhythm
clouds wheel across the landscape
leaving figment message
along the ground
bring visions to mind
which aren’t even mine
change unlike time
moves back and forward
the myth of now
shapes history past
fates arise in retrospect
regret is futures toil
chaotic blows the sand
when scene inside the storm
remove yourself
to see yourself
the patterns that are borne
the flow and ebb
that has no care
to minuscule endeavors
yet we knit and purl
at Indra's net
unconscious to
the state of grace
to which we aim
unerring
Strange occurrence when looking at the sky
This reality
                     our existence
Even for all the pain and anguish
And all the violence and hate
                          Is still beautiful
Take time to appreciate the flaws
That makes the beauty all the more marvelous
Where only here for a moment
*So let us live before we die
