Come fly like an Eagle
             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                Come fly like an Eagle
                              Like
                        A sea Eagle
                We will fly from Sydney
              Up and away to Brisbane
           So make yourself comfortable
       We will fly so high above the clouds
    Without the aid of any mind altering drugs
                         Don’t look down !
                          Trust in only me
                           For I am a poet
                           With the license
                           A special license
                           To an inspiration
                   Living your dreams
- [ ]                     From that Fantasy
- [ ]                     Into your true Reality
- [ ]                    Fasten your safety belt
- [ ]              It’s just at the joint of my wings
- [ ]              Turn off all your mobile devices
- [ ]           Now let the poetry begin my friends
- [ ]       Write to me with your poetic inspiration
- [ ]                        Kind regards Philip.
Fly with your imagination
Sergio Gonzalez Oct 2018
Oh anxiety
You sway like the tides of the sea
Oh no, have mercy on me
You’re here pouncing
like a predator to its prey
engulfing me slowly
like an ice-cold blanket
You drag me
into the vacuum of space
Flying into nothing!everything!
At the speed of light
I try to comprehend you
But you’re more invisible
Than the sun at night
I try to reason with you
But you hold no hostages
I’m yours for the time
Are you aware of the damages?
Well you bring them out to light
And all my secrets
Rush to my head
My mind plays tricks
When will this end?
I’ll just have to wait you out
And when you’re done
I have to pick myself up
And move on
With you as part of my life
Rowan Oct 2018
While searching for unladen skies,
he came across a magpie resting in
a clear patch of swept dirt at his mangled feet.
(and here the story begins, don’t you think?)
Wait—
Do I intimidate you?
With my silken sashay of solicited yet lavish and rattled ramifications?
Complicated, complex logic behind words you don’t know—
words like sonder, opia, and undulate,
euphonious, sempiternal, and sisyphean.
You called them ‘fancy words’,
as if they are dressed for a masked ball and
in elegant suits and dresses, or someplace in-between,
they are dancing the waltz across marble mezzanines behind grey crenellations.
I’m not asking for the meaning of life or great quintessential and quaint questions,
but yet you ponder what’s after death before looking upon my countenance.
Do I require an irascible attitude in ninth grade, forced to be seen,
a scathing cascade of inward curses, each more extensive than the last?
(*******, *******, *******, and a variety of words meaning **** and ******)
So ashamed to fail, as though I belong to a singular meaning and no other.
I tell you now, I am not
crisscrossed with sultry language and full of your ‘can’t’ attitudes.
Whether I make you work or lie in agony over a line,
the job is to provide not pain, but—
understanding, comfort, hiraeth, empathy,
a place for anger, loneliness, emptiness
and inexpressible language…
but as words are only one facet to this endless complication,
I think you should pay attention to the small things.
But I won't dictate your life,
I’m only a broken magpie confined to earth,
Clothed in feathers and ultimatums.
the pictures all move in silent circles
forming messy representations of
thoughts, feelings, reality
turning mere images into
real art, like paintings
but it has taken over
everything around me
from a mile up,
peering from a window seat
lights of tokyo beneath us
and we're sat, soaring
amazing, isnt it?
like a looking glass
this little round window
on a way-too-big airplane
Shivering out in the cold,
A feather floated gently,
Out of ways she had been told,
Out of all insanity.
The feather flew with the wind,
Free to take all the wrong roads,
She felt every heart that was to bind,
Free from every tears they crowed.
She saw a glistening light away,
Lost into the night and dark,
She saw a star brightening her way,
With that tender colorful spark.
The feather strived into the gusts,
To reach the star and its glitter,
She fought the murk and knew she must,
Find the warmth of its shimmer.
The higher she went,
The harder it became,
And as her fluff could smell its scent,
The bleak had her stem maimed.
Shivering out on the ground,
A feather cried softly,
And there was no one around,
To hear her stranded love story.
Take flight
Spread those wings
There's nothing stopping you
The extra weight is just an illusion
Up there
Is where you belong
Do it now
Spread those wings
The sky is wide enough
There is room for you
Do it now!
Just do it!
As the air thins you are called to memory
I am as yet
Unsure of what relationship exists
Between the flitting nimbus and velocity
And me
Perhaps the times I fell away from the earth
Skirting through layers of atmosphere
Between the curvature of horizons
And a past sunset far behind me
I left traces of longing In contrails
I left vapour trails of emotion in the sky
Understandably you are filtered from my gravity restricted musings
With feet on Terra Firma; no contrail exists
Only here with vermillion slashing the clouds
Carving a wake through air so fast sounds can’t catch me
Do I remember how I howled
When a person is
Caught off guard
Is their natural
Reaction
Fight
Or flight
...
Or freeze?
Sometimes,
One can play it innocent
Diffident
Flight
Backing off
Easily
Other times
One could play it cool
There’s nothing
Wrong with what I’m doing
And I ain’t moving gurl
Then, there’s the freeze
Just stop
Stutter
Or don’t even speak
Um’s and
Uhhh’s
Leading
The other
To come to their
Own conclusion
...
So, which one do you do
Flight
Or fight
...
Or freeze?
Your cruel words are shadows
beaten by the light of my
wings
