I can still smell the mixture of mud and water on the ground, the stench of **** in the air as we walked next to each other across the campsite whilst the sun glared down on us beneath clouds filled with rain. I can still feel the sound of the bass vibrating from the main stage whilst you and I were all over each other in my tiny two-man tent that could only really fit one. I can still taste the overpriced candy floss we shared with each other and how your smile made my insides melt quicker than the ice cream we ate whilst watching the fair rides flash by under the sunset sky. That weekend flashed by faster than those screaming as they spun around in the neon-clad waltzer. I still wish to relive those four days, the four days I learned what love truly felt like and the four days I saw nothing but kindness in your ocean coloured eyes. But maybe it was the drugs in the air, the whole idea of a summer in love whilst we danced drunk together to Mumford and Sons that made me see you as someone worth my time. I was under the illusion of summer romance and it almost cost me my life.

BELTANE SONG

Here is the coming of summer when the sun shines on the land and the oak tree gives forth his new green leaves

The deer run through the forest people dance to the pipe and drum all celebrate the kiss of summer who banishes winter gone

We are all one with nature as the Gods and Goddesses are with the planet that is coming into bloom with the scent of hawthorn and elder

For Mother Nature has smiled on the land in this the time of Beltane a time of new birth and happiness and a time of love and healing

i want to make
a movie out of your
skin, the way you
move like ivy vines,

a movie-ode
to your ode-begging
face.

if i could,
i'd enter us
into a film festival
we could be a sundance
winner, a student
film phenomenon.

i bet you it would
go something
like this,
enter a blank screen,
fade into a shot of you skin,
pan out to show your face, or
body.

all skin.
all skin.

you are beautiful for
a split second,
until my voice cracks the
silence
i tell you that we could be
no one, and nothing.
and you ask me.

for what?
so we make the movie anyways.
I dunno.

our battle...over
come, celebrate my dear friends
let’s light a candle
Happy Diwali to all my wonderful Hindu friends from India and the Indian diaspora on HP. Thank you for your kindness n support but also for sharing your creativity and brilliance. I went to the local Indian store in town and bought some Jalabees and Rasgoolas and Samosas that I’m going to sit down and eat for dinner as I think of all of you, Indian Temple architecture and visiting India someday. Happy Diwali!

Decorate this Diwali
with the depth of relations,
Not with the height of
decibels in explosions.

Let's spread the fragrance
of mutual joy and laughter,
It's unfair to pollute with
the smoke of *******.

Let's make noise together
when our country shines,
Let's not annoy the neighbors
with the unwanted sounds.

Let's scatter the light
of love and care,
Let's illuminate the heart's
with concern and share!

Let's respect the five
valuable gifts of nature,
Freely available are fire-
water-earth-space-air!

Volunteer for safety
health and friendliess,
In this way "HAPPY DIWALI"
makes a true sense!
Diwali is a festival of light n warmth of relations..

The essence of festivities all around
And the ray of hope
lit in our eyes
Few more days
And it begins.

Festival will come, once again
New attires, new hopes
shining in bright light.
Mother Goddess arrives,
to heal our mind.

9th and 10th day left
With good wishes all around
When Goddess Durga arrives
Returns back our smiles
And heart fills up with happiness.

With the arrival of Goddess Durga
Take back the past
Take back our past love
Take back everything
Which no longer belongs to us
And make us anew.

Written originally in Bengali-

Pujo pujo gondho
Amader sobar chokhe aalo
Kichu din aaro
Tarpor pujo aarombho.

Pujo aashbe, abar aasbey
Notun kapor, notun aaloker dhaara
Maa elo abar,
Mon k saariye deoyar jonno.

Nobomi r dashmi baki
Preeti o Shubhechha
Maa-r aagomone
Firbe abar haashi
Mon bhore Khushi

Elo Maa Durga
Aager din er kotha
Aager prem
Sob firiye nao
Amader notun kore dao.
The Durga puja essence and a feeling of newness with the bloom of happiness in mind & heart. I wrote the poem in my mother-tongue Bengali and translated in English as well. There are few things which cannot be expressed until spoken in mother-tongue. It's the language which binds us to the heart. Festival always brings happiness, praying that our souls would find some rest when blessed by Goddess Durga.

When festivals are in town
I certainly feel down
I too want to flaunt
But memories haunt

Avoiding to socialise
Stay away from noise
Choose to be alone
In my way own

Once life of a party
It is all now history
I wish i could mingle
But still remain single

Unexplained rejections
Shocking deceptions
Friends turned back biter
One lone fighter

Embarrassing moments
Negative judgments
Their unkind acts
Willful neglects

Loss of self esteem
Intentional demean
Turn the spirits off
Made me cut off

Couldn't fill the void
Hence the festivals i avoid
Although I never revenged
But now i am changed!
The mood glooms
When festival booms
Past hurts are reminded
To stay away i am reprimanded

Went to a celebration... wrote this piece while sitting in a lone corner..
