Takes me places I haven't been.
Shows me vistas I haven't seen.
Shows me sounds I haven't heard.
Gives me experiences beyond the words.

I woke up
before the sun did.

Purple darkness blotted my vision
as I rolled out from under the
warm comforter.

The cold air seeped
through my sweater
the closer I padded to
the window.

Parting the curtains a crack,
I looked out to the parking lot
of the motel.

Thick, greenish-white mist
enveloped the pine trees
and the lonely car shop
across the street.

It was like looking through
a frosted glass shower door.

Fog comes on little cat feet?
More like huge tiger paws.
The paws of a white tiger,
looking for lost prey.

Too bad for the tiger,
I'm too smart to get lost.
I stayed inside.

I crest the sand dune
breath catching in my chest.
A sigh of relief,
my eyes consume the sight.

The ocean is so blue.
So vast.
So loud, yet
quiet. White noise.

Joy bubbles up into my chest,
onto my smiling lips
and squinting eyes.

My senses buzz with satisfaction.
The smell of sunbaked sand,
of the fresh ocean air.

The wind is cold and the sun is warm.
The sand, scalding hot on
the surface, but cool once
I bury my feet deeper.

Peoples voices and seagulls calls
are muted by
the waves crashing against the shore.

The weightless blue sky,
The deep blue ocean,
and the soft white sand.
Simple enough, but
I can't look away
and I want to stay.
An unedited poem. I really like the ocean.

Exhausted
In pain
Sleep Deprived

Scared
Uncomfortable
Confused
Worried

Depressed, but hopeful
Alone, but loved
Hopeless but with hope

Homeless but running towards a home
An abstract poem about my experience with homelessness

To balance a justified arrogance
built by decades
against quixotic bosses
who pass through quicker
than a bout of diarrhoea
is tough

wrap your arms in the rigging
you intrinsically know
so when siren song sounds
or Scylla and Charybdis boil
you’ll still be on the boat
when spat back
to calm seas and good winds

In greenness of your shinning eyes
I saw my old and present self.
There were some things you had described
That I could understand quite well

I had some moments of a-ha,
But from my face you couldn't tell.
A lot in common we have got,
Which honestly felt great.

Like a star in the daylight

Unseen but burning bright.

Like a hibernated bear in it's cave

You don't know the existence hence stand brave.

For the birds also chirp

In front of the sea's enormous burp.

For the Nats also build home

Sadly smashed when you walk or Rome.

Like a fire inside for doing right

The things that bothered when lacked might.

Like inside a prison cell as a slave

For freedom you shall forever crave.

For the spirits inside can hide sometimes

But to ignite them, enough is this rhyme

For now you should get up as I did

Remember not to be your own culprit.

soft, gentle sway
a dance at the tip tops
of all the trees
takes my hand
and carries me
up into the sky
over vast mountains
so tall
the sadness which
propelled me
over a lifetime
so long
holds me now
in the sweetest arms
soaring me on
into forever
hot pink clouds
meet with mountain peaks
always is all I see
