Can we take a moment,
And realise that only some men
look good clean shaved
And not our mother nature
Save the earth before it can’t save us

I. The Boy With The Cuckoo Clock Heart

Born with a frozen heart,
abandoned in
Edinburgh.

One kind physician
laid her hands upon him,
in a bit of medicinal salvation,
by placing a cuckoo clock
inside his chest.

Now an orphan,
among peculiar friends:
tear-filled flasks,
eggs containing memories,
and a man with a musical spine.

There's but one catch
for this boy:
his heart is fragile,
he must never, ever
fall in love.

Existence is undoubted.
But without this one emotion,
can he really live?

Love is a bitter token.

II. The Girl With Glass Feet

"It was a humid night,
later to become a hated night."

Upon an island sound,
feet first, she is slowing turning
into glass.

By sheer happenstance,
she meets a shy boy
who lives there
with an extreme fear
of being touched.

As she slowly disappears,
she untethers herself
from self-pity,
by teaching the boy the value
of interaction.

Inchmeal, he begins to reach out
and feels everything
she has lost to the night.

Love is a bitter token.

III. The Snow Child

"November was here."

A married couple,
in Alaskan remote,
suffering from one great sadness:
no child of their own
and unable to talk of it.

He's buried by
the weight of the outer ice,
she's crumbling
from inner despair.

And so on a rare
friendly day trek,
they built a child out of snow,
outfitted with mittens and scarf.

A day later it is gone,
remembered only in absentia,
yet there appears
a beautifully arrayed
creature of winter,
a little, lissome girl in the woods,
hunting with the red fox.

In wishing to understand
these encounters,
the couple come to love the child
as their very own daughter.

Yet will she ever accept them
as they do her?

Or see them
merely as snowdrops?

Figurines frosted over by
the harsh landscape
they each wander?

Love is a bitter token.
BLT's continued challenge - to write a poem using the Merriam-Webster word of the day, lissome. It's in there somewhere.

        Let's save the environment

Make life happy
Bring greenery around
Come save the environment
Make your land heaven.
       Burning sun rises earth
       Relieved under the tree
Life is all from the trees
But for the sake of our selfishness
       Man has cut unnecessary trees
       Plant trees instead of trees
       Reach this message to everyone
       Come save the environment
       Make your land heaven.
We live by water
Still polluting the water
Rivers are worshiped
All the waste goes to
Water is a precious gem
Make the blob clean
Come save the environment
Make your land heaven.
       Improve our habits today
       Curb rising pollution
Do not destroy nature and we
       Awaken these feelings in your
        mind
       This mother is our earth
        Don't make him cry anymore
        Come save the environment
        Make your house heaven.

This lockdown has refashioned everything.

Not only our daily work schedules,
But reduction in pollution and demand of fuels.
Yes it made us shut our places to worship.
But has opened a window to evaluate our personal relationships.
Now queues outside restaurants and cinema is absent,
But we have got time to ponder on our future and relishing our present.

This lockdown has refashioned everything.

Definitely you cannot travel and be social,
But this has taught you to go 'Vocal for Local'.
Yes it has hampered the growth rate.
But now we value whatever we have on our plate.
We have been quarantined in our own homes,
But now we know life is more precious than thrones.

This lockdown has refashioned everything.

I see trees burnt black
Dead roses too
Nothing can bloom
No flowers new
And I think to myself
What have we done to this earth ?

The sky is ablaze
The sun glows white
Smog stays all day
A forest burns at night
And I think t myself
What have we done to this world ?

The fish are full of plastic
Seabirds can’t fly
Red tide is like blood
Whales washed up to die
There’s an island of garbage
Drawn on the map
The sea turns toxic
An ocean of crap
And I think t myself
What have we done to this earth ?

Babies cry because they know
They will reap just what we sow
And I think to myself
What have we done to this world ?

Ah, what a sight to see!
With the bright sun in the distance
Chirps of the bugs and bees
To forget the reason for our distance

A walk to end all walks
Till I see the dawn wake
As I reminisce that box
That always made you quake

Longing to dream as you could dream
Not to remember and a night to forget
To forget that pitched scream
And the tumble of your chess set

All I can do is wait for my day
And continue to live carefree
Walking into the next Friday
Living in a shattered reality

I scream for your attention
-
But you don’t hear me

I scream out all of my anger
-
But the wrong people listen to it

I scream
I just scream
Does anyone feel the same way?
Does anybody just want to scream.
Does anyone want to scream with me.

Scream about something
Scream about everything
Just scream

Scream about the environment
Scream about politics
Scream about generations
Scream about social standards
Scream about what is going on in my head

The roller coaster in my head is screaming
My ideas are flowing

And I stop screaming
I begin to overthink
Are you screaming with me or against me?
When birds on nearby
Big olive trees
A mellifluous music make,
Cognizant time for daybreak
I often used to get awake.
They always chirp
To say
“ Get up what is your plan
For today?”

Tragically, after
People recklessly
Felled down trees
Concrete jungles
To advance
I have missed for
The alarming bell
A chance.

A vicious cycle of drought
Makes the harvest naught.
Food insecurity
Has become
Some countries’ identity.
Rivers,which used to gallop,
Ebbing out, that trend
Has stopped.

Unlike in the past,
Walking without umbrella
No sane person can
For h/she will be
Victimized by the sun.

Nature, which
We used to bully,
Has become
Unruly !

Alas , unless one puts on
A glass
The reflection from a nearby
Tower’s environment -
not-friendly window
Could cast on one’s iris
A shadow.

In the past
Summer was summer
While winter winter
But now has taken their places
Gray matter.

The air was salubrious
But now it has said” Adieus!”////
About climate change

Like smoke it comes towards me a-sailing,
Moving slowly through the cold, silent air;
It covers me - I cannot see a thing;
I stretch forth my hand - but feel nothing there.

Rapid warming bursts open his polluted lungs
Flies and maggots spill while wilted flowers have sprung
Sickly eyes and perverted form
Chaos and death revel in the man-made storm

Tears pull at the corners of my mouth
With his misery, we can both drown
He wants the sinners of this world to burn
This is a lesson I've yet to learn

Mourning with blue irises in my hand
A cold silent distance between where he and I stand
If I move an inch closer, I will have to overcome my fear
That it is of little matter that I care

My throat grows tight, dry of words to say
I watch our friendship slowly decay
Secretly I make a wish, my selfishness arising
To say I wanted to meet him, well, I'd be lying
im your friend.
but it isn't good enough.
