In the light of Easter morning
The stone remained unmoved.
Unsure of what to do at first, we waited
Then we tried to push it clear—
It wouldn’t move.

We watched throughout the afternoon,
Most left by by three, a few remained—
We didn’t hope, but didn’t leave.
By six the sun was setting,
When the darkness reached the stone
The day was done and we were weeping—
And the stone remained unmoved.

The basic image has been in my head for over 50 years, although my response to it has changed.
Maryann I Mar 3
There was a time when your laugh was my home,
When friendship was a soft place, a safe zone.
But the world that should’ve cradled you with care
Let you slip through, unnoticed, unaware.

You wore the weight of their words like chains,
And I, too young, couldn’t stop the rain.
I watched you fade, each day a little more,
But no one else seemed to see you soar.

I saw the cracks in your smile,
The way you shrank with each cruel trial.
The halls grew quieter the day you fell,
A whisper lost in a never-ending hell.

They said it was an accident, a tragedy.
But I knew better. I knew your plea.
I knew the way the darkness crept
Into your heart, the one you kept.

The echo of your voice still haunts me,
A call I never had the chance to see.
I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep,
I drowned in the grief I couldn’t keep.

Your absence crushed me,
I felt the weight of it like a stone.
The world turned its back,
But I was left here…

Alone.

I didn’t know where to go.
I didn’t know how to breathe.
I didn’t know how to scream.
I wanted to vanish,
I wanted to leave.
But your ghost kept me here,
Torn between the silence,
By the shattered fear.
I’m falling apart—
Falling…
apart..
.
I wish I could’ve helped.. I miss my Lily.

Somebody Like You
Somebody Like You

I've been looking long and far to find her
No one I meet can compare to you
Still, I keep on searching for her
Always feeling sad & blue
Until I find someone like you

I know she must be soft and tender
She must be sincere and honest to
She must be my best friend
She must be my lover
She must be an awful lot like you

Somebody like you (I'm looking for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through
Somebody like you (keep searching for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through

When I find her I will make her happy
Leave her side is something I won't do
I'll be a vision in her dreams
I'm going to treat her like a queen
Only if she's someone just like you

Somebody like you (I'm looking for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through
Somebody like you (keep searching for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through

(Someone, I'm searching) Somebody like you
(Someone, I'm looking) I'm looking
Someone, where are you) For someone like you
(Someone, to hold me) To hold my hand
(Someone, to show me) In times of trouble
(Someone, I will find you) Just like you do

Somebody like you (I'm looking for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through
Somebody like you (keep searching for)
Somebody like you to hold me until the night is through

A daze descends, my bearings lost,
Trapped in the dark, a heavy cost.
I call out, a muffled echo’s sound,
Dampened and lost, no solace found.

A flicker of light, a guiding gleam,
Through the looking glass, a surreal scene.
I see myself, yet not the same,
My love departs, a fading flame.

Not with me, but one unknown,
A shattered glass, a world overthrown.
I chase my heart, a desperate quest,
A mirrored maze, a twisted test.

Within the room, illusions hide,
My love, a phantom, a fragile guide.
Many pretend, a false disguise,
Yet only one, beneath my eyes.

Unknown the truth, I cannot see,
My true love lost, eternally.
I called out, a silent plea,
No echo, no response, just me.

The rabbit hole, an endless chase,
A deeper dive, a hopeless race.
Her image lingers, a fading light,
I reach out, yet grasp the night.

I trust her heart, a foolish leap,
My mind confused, my spirit deep.
Duped once before, my trust now torn,
I understand, foreverlorn.

Lost in the dark, a prisoner’s plight,
Trapped in my mind, a haunting night.
On the other side, a dream untold,
Lost in the labyrinth, forever bold.
A journey of a dream

Redacted*

I met you when I was sixteen,
a glance, a laugh across the room.

Weeks passed, yet every step I took
was searching for you in the crowd.

We went for coffee—
I hated coffee, so you ordered mine.

The worst drink I'd ever tasted,
yet perfect,
for it carried the thought of you.

Wallet in hand, money on the counter,
yet you paid.
Illogical, I thought, strange—
but now I know,
logic fades in your presence,

and only one truth remains:
Because you're you,

and I love you.
So here I am, saying it again—
I love you.

I bled.

Warmth seeped into my cold arms,
The vivid hue a reminder of life within me,
And me within life.

No pain—only a thought:
Is this the shade of burgundy you love,
Or is it darker?

If I were to capture it in a painting,
would you hang it?

Would it move you more
if you knew the source?

For even my emptied veins, a sacrifice,
Remains unworthy of you.

You don't care enough to care
i wish a feeling this raw was rare
Fields of dreams are bleak and bare
Turned a darkened back of the mind nightmare

A thousand yard stare
Thoughts going everywhere yet nowhere
This is where i think i want to be
But i'm always off by just a hair

You say over and over,
"When I'm here I'm here"
Yeah, and when you're there you're there
Well, i don't want to share

Still i trusted you enough to share
my inner darkness from prior despair
You crushed my spirit while fully aware
Left with barely an ounce to spare

In love and war all is fair but life's not fair
i'm trying to fight to ignite what's not there
Though i know i should not dare
That's my cross to bare

We have cried enough tears to wash away
This ***** old town and its habit
With loves crushing wave
We replenish the need for a new life
But not the need to sing

Cowards cloaked in the safety of shadows,
Hiding behind fictitious names,
Preying upon fragile hearts,
Words laced with venom,
Their hands stained with tears.

What kind of monster knows the wound
Yet rips it open?
What kind of soul sees a fractured heart
And snaps it further still?

I dream of justice
Not swift or merciful,
For that would be too kind a punishment.
I dream of a slow justice, slow as molasses,
Seeping into the safety of shadows they know,
To bring an inferno, unyielding, relentless
To mirror the agony they sowed.

I will tear down the heavens,
I will shatter the earth
To find them, to use them,
To be used as kindling,
To remake the world in flames.

For the world has been far too cruel.
Every ember would sing of her freedom,
Every ash a testament to their sins,
Every cloud of smoke a warning to them all.

Your suffering will not be quick
Oh no, death is far too kind.
You will feel the weight of despair,
The suffocation of regret,
The searing of your sins
Carved into every breath.

And when I hear them plea and beg,
Cry for the Lord to save them,
I’ll ask if they think their penance was enough,
If they regret what they’ve done.

And when they say yes,
And ask for the sweet release of death,
I’ll rejoice as I am the last thing they’ll see
The gleaming smile looking back,
As their light leaves their eyes.
