sometimes
words
get
lost
in the
dark

i often
get lost in my
own thoughts

but it’s a risk
that i
dare to take
Blade Maiden Aug 2018
Today my brain is twisted
thoughts are misted
I want to write of the beauty that is
The beauty that I miss
The knowing that I crave
the one that would save
me from agony
and a life empty
of hope and filled with recollection
of needs and attraction
for something simple and true
like a tree that is green under a sky so blue
My ears are filled
My glass is chilled
My glass heart might break
if you try to take
part in my endeavor
to see lifes tangled parts clearer
But I'm okay with that
I'm ready to bet
My heart against another
let's smother
the pain we felt
and how we dealt
with lovelessness
I'll gladly confess
before you I'm bare
and I'd dare

again, and again, and again...

Do not crave me for the petals bloomed around into a beautiful bright red spread.
Do not crave me for the leaves decorated around my body in a dance with the light breeze.
Crave me for the thorns around every part of me for that is where my truth lies, where all of me is real and vulnerable.
Definitely written after Anne Bronte: “he who dares not grasp the thorn should never crave a rose.” My all time favorite quote.

I always feel two steps behind
No matter what the topic at hand
Even things I'm sure that I'm sure of
You can break down that certainty
Within seconds

Make me doubt the person
That I know myself to be
I dare you
Convince me that I am someone else
Because I'm stubborn until I'm afraid

Afraid to be laughed at
Afraid to be judged
Afraid to be made into a fool

So I take the initiative and laugh it off
Because declaring "I'm just an idiot",
"I don't know anything about anything"
Or simply keeping my mouth shut
Is far easier than hearing it elsewhere
Self-deprecating as **** but truee

Who am I to keep you
from taking chances
stealing glances

Believe me when I say
I don't want to slow you down
by no means make you lose your crown

Quite the opposite it's true
I want you to hold this smile
for which I'd walk the extra mile

Simply what I'd love to have
is you to let me stand close to you
and maybe let me hold your hand then too

The only thing that troubles my mind
is not knowing if you want to share
your good life with me and if you think I'm worth the dare

Am I?

We wake at sunlight and nestle in at moonlight,
Stretching the day with our toughest fight.

Hour by hour, we hustle for power,
Dull today, tomorrow it'll shower.

Hold back on decision, for you risk derision,
Venture not, its not your mission.

No not this ticket, its too expensive,
No not that man, he will leave you pensive.

Remember those opportunities you wanted to unlock,
Well its just too late, the coffin mocks..

A row of shoes were lined up,
Ready to be slipped on
Each pair unique, telling tales
It’s owner’s burden buried deep
their sufferings carried on

One of the pairs horribly reeked
Of long hours under the sun
Soaked with sweat and tears
That leaked from it’s owner’s eyes
And seeped through the owner’s toes
Exploitation and oppression
Tattered and slipper strings snapped
Which brings into question
Can we dare walk in those shoes?

Another pair was rather extravagant
Bejewelled, dazzling with rubies
The aroma of vanilla spreading
Through the radiant effervescence
Yet it held a vibe so ominous
Perhaps emitting unhappiness
From the riches that brought no glee
Which brings into question
Can we dare walk in those shoes?

Slipping your feet into a pair
crawling, walking or sprinting
Empathising in their shoes
Shredded from sufferings
Or stitched with threads of hope
What truly matters in those shoes
Is to understand with compassion
Gaining a glimpse of their wars
To interpret, understand and empathise
With “Verstehen” we can learn
And share our battle scars
Then perhaps, we can accept ourselves
And each other in solace
so let us ask ourselves, once again;
Can we dare step into their shoes?
"Verstehen" is a term coined by Sociologist Max Weber loosely characterized by three words; "interpret, understand and empathize", basically walking in someone else's shoes to understand them better. this poem was inspired by this very concept
