False claims and exploding stars.
A thousand years late from where we are.

Whilom seafarers in rapture,
seven minutes in heaven,
then nothing but bathos,
--a woman in bed,
she and Rembrandt quarreling
over fidelity or obedience to her king?

Night sky, a blow torch,
a golden rain flowing between her legs,
curled in the veil of imperial lineage and/or arousal,
--ballistic arc,
peering into the hand mirror,
a breach of promise staring back.

"Will the flight
affect your reproductive organs, Danaë?"

"Conceivably...
and how they shall weep
when things go wrong between us?"

i haven't crossed your mind in a long time
but sometimes i hope that you lay down at night
and think of me
wonder what i'm doing
what i look like now
what my new hopes & dreams are
or maybe if i've found someone new
just sometimes

when i tell you that i'm going to love you,
i hope you never wonder or doubt that i will love a l l of y o u.

i will love you the most
when you're falling to pieces,
when you can't stand on your own two feet,
when you h a t e me.

because i'm not signing up to love you only at your best,
but especially at your w o r s t.

Many men make declarations of love when they want to make love,

But rare is the man whose love remains true
