I can feel myself returning
back to that same spot:
yours, in everything but title.

yet I can't stop myself from hoping and dreaming and praying that
maybe this time
you'll be mine, too.
even though I know you never will be.
I was a fool to think I could ever talk myself out of loving you.
There is no such thing as to be ready or not ready for love. If you are afraid of commitment it is because you haven’t yet kissed the lips of true blessing; the spark that will burn with light and passion has not been yet cast. No fear can be victorious in battle against love. No rational thought can eradicate the heart’s desire. The body’s court of justice will be biased towards tender affection and any judgement will rule in favor of it. When genuine love is put into a scale, even the smallest bit of it will make its side heavier. Like energy, passion and attachment cannot be destroyed and like a Star, it may take a lot of time for love’s warmth to fade into an icy corpse of absence. But who can say the end will not be blistering cold?
This is the epigraph of my poetry anthology called "The Heart's Betrayal". It is not a poem per se, but I love how it sounds and it also sets up the themes behind the collection.

Tell me what you wish for,
all I need is what you need.
Whenever you need succour,
I'll gladly yield myself to help.

Your smile disseminates rays of hope,
I can hardly look away from it.
With you I know I can cope,
cos our connection is gainly fit.

Whenever your hand holds mine,
I bounce forth and bubble.
My being rejoices because you are mine,
thus no one can make me grumble.

Though the crowd makes me fret,
your presence gives me strength.
You embody many precious things,
I'm glad I found you out quick.
Love is beautiful with the right person

"love is about commitment"
'then why did you leave?'

love is about commitment
but like other things, love
changes, in an instant
one moment love is blooming
one moment love is dying

and a dying love cannot commit
and a dying love cannot promise
and a dying love cannot stay

I said I loved you and tried to resist marking
inappropriate gestures.
I did love you and I tried to resist.
I said I loved you and said yes when I walked down the aisle with you at your wedding.
I did love you and I said yes again and again in your cheap bed-sit.
I said I loved you and bore you children who would want for nothing.
I did love you and I presumed desire and drive to be an either or.
I said I loved you and I surrendered myself.
I did love you and I surrendered myself.
I said
I did.
NEVER

If nothang keeps you from enjoying

life, you must always keep your

commitments and never hurt others

with promises you can't keep.

Age is a shame when it comes to love.
It reaches a point where you just give up,
But the heart’s desire keeps setting on fire,
Every time you meet someone who lifts you higher.

I’m feeling too old to love her or flirt.
She desires another and I am left to hurt.
My heart wants to love whilst she just wants fun.
I wish I could, once more be young.

I want marriage.  She wants to party.
I’ve had enough, while she’s just getting started.
I could be right for her as she is wrong for me.
She is so beautiful.  She is my need.

I have to move on, be gone!  I’m no fun.
A setting sun remembers being young.
My thoughts haven’t changed,
Still wanting the same.
Marriage is the way,
But not today.
