Christmas marks the turning of years
the sparkle on this one is made with tears!
Better things to come for everyone I hope ***
Anais Vionet Dec 2020
I’m under the Christmas tree like a present,
yeah, to rifle packages with my name on them,
but I’m caught, transfixed, looking up through the shrine
forgetting myself in delight at this multi-color heaven.

I’ve never lost my wonder at fulgid Christmas lights -
driving around gawking at decorations half the night.
If only the world could stay like this - but we can’t
sustain rhapsody - we can only trespass on bliss.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

                             Christmas Day in the Covid-Time

There are no children around the tree this year
To make Christmas complete with their happiness
No Barbie dolls, electric trains, or bikes -
We are distanced in everything but love

No relatives come and go, not even the one
Who will park his pickup truck on the lawn
No fruitcakes given and received, no hugs -
We are distanced in everything but love

But still there is the fire, the dog, and us -
We are distanced in everything but love
A poem is itself.
This year played some sad song
To hear happy ones, we all do long
Hope, everyone stays safe and strong

May we take slow and steady steps
And say yes, to life and living
May life play many lovely songs

The tempo in rhythm with the beat of every heart
My prayers for everyone
To be with loved ones and celebrate this precious life
Merry Christmas, dear all

A little girl
In tattered clothes
Shivering to death
In December cold

A lonely man
Just lost his job
Standing on a forgotten cliff
Ready to jump
Wondering what
Was his reason to live

Cheated wife
Lost the love of her life
Grabbing onto cyanide
Crying into the silent night

A man surrendered
To *******
Walking towards
His own grave

Shunned by his family
For being someone
He wasn't allowed to be
The scaffold seemed
Too close to reach

Driven mad
By all the hate
He was taught since he was a kid
He decides
The infidels
They must be killed

On that fateful Christmas day
An angel appeared
In human form
The believers ,the disbelievers
The haters,the hated
The angel saved them all

The amazing grace changed them all

May broken hearts be mended,
Broken dreams come true.

May the fractured human rapport,
be restored like t'was of yore.

May the poor and the needy,
Find means to prosper and grow

May the cheated and defrauded,
Get justice recompense their due.

May the lonely ones in prisons,
Chained for causes untrue,
Be freed of unjust detention,
Their honor restored too.

The oppressed tribal Indians,
whose home this nation's too,
Uplifted and empowered
Their right to live ensured.

The battered Indian woman,
Bearing violation cruel
Of a patriarchal nation,
Liberated at last be soon.

Humane, magnanimous people
Valuing lives above faiths and notions.
Indians together as one brethren,
Trekking onwards, one destination.

And so we fell
Courageously in myth
Boldly into the night that 25th
Celestially aligned
Rhythmically intertwined
Assuming perfection
With that complexion
As if we knew no wrong
As if conclusions were foregone
Ivory faced memories
Sounding off like piano keys
And so we fell

Gaze not at your Christmas tree, nor the many wrapped gifts laid there beneath. For what ever they may be, the greatest gift of Christmas, was long ago bequeathed.

On that cold night in Bethlehem, was born him without sin, Emmanuel, the Promised One, did the people call him. O do you hear the angels herald and sing: "Glory to the King of Kings."

O, what priceless gifts have ye. Of which, how many may set your spirit free? Silver, Gold, precious gems and jewellery, though all are good within none salvation be.

So on this one night promise me, that you'll forget your hams and turkeys, sweet wines, rums and brandies. For Christmas should be more than a feast, festival, or fair, it should be a time of reflection of yesteryear; accepting one's losses, and appreciating one's gains. And most of all remembering Christ for whom, the day is named.

And I'll promise you, after all this pain, a Christmas that you will believe: Could never be the same!
So, will you give me the chance to fulfil my promise?

What is love and true? What is more perfect than You? The perfect Lamb, without blemish or shame, into the darkness with light, You had came. O blessed be Your sweetest name; a name at whose sounding does heal the lame. O what other given name, king's or commoner's may do the same?

The greatest gift for Christmas was long ago bequeathed; given by Jesus Christ, our Lord, that all might receive. So please, accept His charity; and from sin be free... and be on this Christmas day, truly merry.
Will you be accepting this gift for Christmas, that Christ has wrapped in love; delivered to us all, by the purest white of doves?
