as you purse your cherry lips,
i steal a glance
and witness the beauty
that you are.
i’m half-awake
and you’re half-asleep;
we could meet halfway—
as long as we know
where we are headed.
let’s meet halfway.

i can no longer
steal glances
and waste chances —
for your beguiling smile
enchants every piece of me
and your sweetest eyes
look like a felony
i am willing to commit.
you are worth it.
First Impressions
A funny thing
Why does the first time you see me
Define me
Why will that forever affect your thoughts
Of me
And why are they so hard to change

It isnt fair
That you take second chances
All for yourself
And leave nothing for others

I want people to see the truth
Of me
Of others
And of themselves

First Impressions
i wish first impressions didnt always play such a big role in people's thoughts. i know its only natural, but they are so so off and wrong too often

isn’t it comforting
to know that
in a sea of strangers
your heart
found mine

and that maybe one day,
it’d find me again.

The kingfisher lazily perched today
as a sorry river sloped below
fish so visible that fishing
felt like cheating

But, y’know, gift horses and such,
and a full mouth for the nest
is best for everyone
I guess

though glimmer and flash
are rarely seen without challenge
we all need a dose of easy pickings
to even the game
Now I know where it is, I finally saw it sit still. Beautiful things.
Broken Pieces May 2020
Maybe someday I will find a way to heal,
Maybe someday I will admit that they're real.

I thought the darkness would last forever,
But maybe I can fight it if we're together.
