The ocean breeze
Goes through my hair
I get a call from my family
Its a scare
I head to the hospital
My father is dead
He says his last words
On his death bed
A story from my life.

i am
     soft like a
     ***** sponge
     burning soapy water.
          the others were calling
                    i tried to reach you,
                   you told me i should.
                                          but you
                                              never
                                              answered
                                         so i left alone
                                      because i am
                                     soft
                                   and
                                 able.

In the wee hours
as the crickets chirp
and frogs and owls converse
a forest symphony
outside my window

I am reminded why I came here
not so long ago
for the glory of the Milky Way
the Moon and all the stars

as far away from light pollution
as we could have come
for the river
for the woods
for the quiet

And on those days when I would trade
our winters for a song
I think of all the years it took
to bring me to this place

I walk the woods in gratitude
for all our many gifts
and think
perhaps
the owls feel the same
I wrote this as I went to bed last night, around 3 AM, and at least three large owls were calling to one another.  One was very close, another a bit farther away, and a third I could barely hear; if there were others, they were beyond my range of hearing.  The frogs, crickets and other sounds of the woods gave the background for the sound tapestry.

Interestingly, as I finished the poem, the owls apparently moved on, as if they had done their job.  ;-)  We have a number of different species in our woods, and I'm not certain which these were, but they were clearly larger owls.

It was lovely,
The sight of a moist skinned sun.
I forgot my illusive state
And found myself harmonized
With the cold but gentle outburst.

It's bewildering,
These droplets so fragile
Yet it calms me down
With its cold and subtle presence.

I must listen,
She says to me
Listen to the rhythm
The ringing of the earth.

She wants to tell me,
It's growing faster than time
Life, in all its chaos
It's growing.

I try to capture her
But she dissolves
Dissolves into my hands ,
Into the earth
Then she disappears.
Nothing, ceases.

Heavily, she pours down
Touches and strokes me.
In her cloudy armour
She gives me shelter
Over my meagre posture.
Washes away my desolute land
Embraces me
Devours me
Smell of wet earth.

Now I long to touch you,
Keep you caged.
But you! my Mother,
You teach me
The earth ,your child,
Life transcends
Life evolves
Life. It changes.
And I must just remain,
Remain as it is.

Steady winning with sin,
Paper makes love to the pen,
Give them all my condolences,
The man just saw his end,
Flashed before his eyes,
It just came as a surprise,
Not one but two loose ties,
I swear the devil lies,
About the choice to choose or decide,
What do they call you?
Savior or a man with lost virtue,
Your a higher power not a cartoon,
And those predict the most,
But what is it to you,
In a cage controlling your actions,
Laws can make transactions,
The World is just a big fraction,
Ready to be solved,
Can you determine what happens?

Visions of a backlit childhood
Of golden-haired halos and shadowed eyes
Slideshow in flashes of painful yesterdays
For those still unfamiliar
Longing to hold the child as he cries
Those tears cannot fall in confusion's void
And fear darkens all roads 'can be seen
Still here, in their nightmare,
Like it was my own
Is a truth told in smiles and jellybeans
Long since gone away

cling to your fear, before it disappears.
you feel it pulling, its always there
it is not always clear, when destiny is near
when you hear it calling will you even care

you can always turn on the path you walk
even if into the trees away from the flock
there's a righteous  path many must walk
in which humanity once took stock

I fear the path I may have to walk soon
for it may lead to my very doom
will I submit to the devil's ruse
knowing this what shall I choose
