The brave and cowards fit in selfsame grave,
But not the songs, for deeds yet shape their fame.
With rasping throat and grating tongue, we rave
Of songs that vary, walking paths not same.

They crooned and groaned their will on world again,
To teach us not to scorn the fear we feel:
That fear is mankind’s eldest friend ere pain,
For pain’s behind the err, before the heal.

So, hold your fear in heart and seek advice,
As brave have countless times before they soar.
But let it rule you not, nor heed this vice,
For fear has stayed the hand of pain before.

The brave do make their fear a fervent shield,
While cowards yield, for death and pain to meld.

Stone lion mourns deep,
etched in grief, yet standing proud,
bravery carved wide.
A lion falls, yet duty stays,
Carved in stone, his honor sways.
For king and cause, they stood, they died,
Their silent valor, petrified.
The Lion of Lucerne stands as a testament to the bravery of the Swiss Guards who gave their lives in 1792, embodying the timeless bond between duty and sacrifice. Its mournful yet proud figure immortalizes their heroism, carved in stone for generations to remember.
Come said the woman,
To the statue who stood by the falls.
"Come great statue, come with me."
"For the falls are flooding and soon they will take you too."
The statue looked down upon the woman,
Then silently shook his head.
And though she pleaded for him to leave,
The statue remained, arms spread to embrace the flood.
"I will stay with this place through dawn and dusk. For there is nowhere else in the world that I can call home as long as it's memory lives in my head."

on the edge
of this ravine, I’ve stood
so long that the grass has grown
between my toes, moss hanging off
my fingers in tendrils,
wildflowers in my hair,
but today it is time to move.

the darkness yawns wide, though
it wasn’t always this way.
once, it was a child—
like all grown-ups once were.
once, it was just a crack in the dirt,
the product of a thousand tiny
earthquakes.

when i was a child, running
free as the wind,
i stumbled to a stop at its cusp.

i became afraid like a
fawn turns to a deer with
wide, wide, wide eyes
darting around as the fish
in a crystal sea.
i spent all my years, frozen
there until the chasm grew and so
did i.

but today, i take the leap.

i shake off the dust and replace
it with steel, steel drum for a heart with
a beat for every step,
one foot in front of the other picking
up speed, until suddenly i am
f l y i n g.

fear?
in another life, perhaps.
made this for a school assignment about the new year

A crippling heaviness
Enters the room
I’m trembling
I break out in a cold sweat
The dolls on the stand
Are securely locked in their case
Their sad eyes watch as he
Inches closure and silent screams
Fill the space.

He whispers violent things
And spits in my face.
I succumb to his lingering words
As I forget how to breathe
I lost my voice
It know belongs to him.

These earthquakes come and go
Awakening the anger within
I drank the poison from the fire of your lies
It burnt, but I kept drinking
Because it's all I've ever known.

Your color turned gray
I struggle to the surface
With an anchor the size of my guilt
Pulling me under the entire way up
So full of life we once were.
When your heart was in the right place
Or so you made me believe.

Sister and mother despair
Building castles in Spain
They take the threshold
May their glory reign
They disappear for awhile
strolling down memory lane
And return only with
Their decaying growing pains
One gave birth to the fire
The other the Descendant of flames.

Things are getting out of hand.
Peace is no where to be found.
I'm tired of contemplating,
And trying to understand,
What can't be comprehended.
My sanity fell into a
Haystack of needles.

In order to reclaim it
I will have to bleed.
There are no easy answers.
Yet answers are what I need.
How can I make amends
When I still don't understand
Who I'm supposed to be?

This story is a difficult one to tell.
Especially when it comes
To telling it well from start to finish.
And in order to do so
I need to remove myself
From this diseased prison cell.
Then maybe I will find
The redemption I long for
And lift this evil spell.

Then maybe I’ll be reborn
From the ashes of myself

I'm a force to be reckoned with
So I don't recommend double crossing me
If you come across me
I’ve been known as the criminal in town
****** for being different and causing mayhem

It is not my desire to watch the world burn
And I’ve tried putting out this fire within me
So I don’t set fire to the world around me
But I don't know how much longer
I can hold it in before my covers blown

The innocents cannot be unpunished
So why are they blamed and
Imprisoned for other people’s actions
There are so many stories to be told
So many victims waiting for the moment
To speak their truth and let the real villains be known

Sometimes when you hit the hard rock
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! You must bounce back
Never leave without a tough fight
That’s the correct thing to do. That’s right
Always remain calm, positive, valiant and defiant
The sun, moon and earth are incredibly resilient
Never stop fighting until the last breath
Eat and drink well and protect your health
Your heart is beating for a good reason
Regardless, please enjoy the new season
Do not give up and never stop living
Keep on fighting; the sun is still shining
Many times when you hit the hard rock
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! You must bounce back
