people have their god
               and
people have their no god
               but
neither has solid proof
                nor
the definitive answer
               only
what they truly believe in
                and
they’re so sure of themselves
               that
they’ll defend and protect their beliefs
                  if
any differences are shouted at them
                 and
they’ll hold and cradle their beliefs
               tightly
like a security blanket
                 and
they’ll preach their beliefs
                  to
any pair of ears they come across
                  it’s
the never-ending game
           straddling
the on-going centuries
                  if
you have god, go with god
                and
                  if
you have nothing, go with nothing
                 just
leave me the hell out of it:
your beliefs
      my beliefs
          his beliefs
             her beliefs
               their beliefs
                 were never a certainty.

My poem resembles
The Question Mark ?
I called this Word Art
While some people have indicated it can be distracting. I like the challenge of completing the picture.

1) Tell Me Why

spilled tears Mar 29
Believes in nothing, not dark or light,
No stars to lead through endless night.
Mind a void, heart adrift,
Soul untethered, lost in rift.

No gods to call, no fate to trust,
Just fleeting moments that turn to dust.
Search for meaning but find none near,
Tell me love, is it lonely out there?
this is not about god

Fall on your own sword;
If you must die
Do it on a hill
On which you shall be revived.
From where at its summit & base
A well should spring
Of water which you may both wade,
Clean enough to be drank.

By both, either side,

Whether Abrahamic or Pagan
Both religious & spiritual.
By whatever side walked
Around the waterhole,
No matter the kind of animal.
Any coast situated near the ocean,
Any forest covered with trees,
Any open & vacant clearing.

Why do I fear what is near
Tears through our rain
Count down every year
Why do we yearn for our dear
To hear a call as we fall
As l ascend to heaven you are here
When I make my bed you are here
The ten command
That were too harsh for man
Why must you demand
Perfect holy land
Once as hopeless as Lilith
Did I not know my limit
Enlighten me in my consciousness
Ground me in the presence
Allure my affluence
For my third eye left me with such penury
Grant me mercy
For my surface mind gave me spiritual insight
From the root to my crown
Do not let me drown
In pits that are lit
Why must I question what ill see
Beauty isn't something we fear
Temptation is clear in the deception
Our guardians are indescribable
Our wrongs will be held liable
What if I turn over the bible
Will you bury me in my affidavit
For there is good in my intuitive belief
I never guess what time will read
I never question what is beneath
A God that we have yet seen
I never question life within my eyes
Our time will come with such delirious demise

DISCLAIMER: in this poem, i do not intend to harm or offend any religious folks!

i was raised atheist
so i never believed in god
once
when i was in kindergarten
a kid asked me
do you believe in god?
he asked everyone.
i said no
i was the only one
and he hurt me
he punched me
pinched me
kicked me
and called me a sinner

i keep getting hate
for how i was raised
in the 5th grade
i tried to start believing
but i couldn't
i respect others views
but i don't share them
and i don't think i ever will
i know a little about discrimination,
as a trans
queer
mentally ill
annoying kid
but i think others know more

religion is a silly little thing
for some people
it's their whole personality
because they love it
and for others
it is a weight on their chest and leaves them with trauma

i respect your beliefs as long as you don't force them onto me

I envy the faithful

Those who have a sense of belonging
Those who believe there is meaning and
trust there is no end to this life.

I envy the warmth

Those who feel secure within this world
Those who fear nothing and have everything
planned out for them.

I envy the idea

That there is some cosmic parent
Watching over, loving unconditionally, and
wrapping their believers in a soft, wool blanket.

And there are moments
When I can no longer endure my own existence
Where I hope and I pray and I bargain and I wish
to any greater entity that might hear my whispers in the night

Please just make the pain stop.

There's nothing warm or cozy about contemplating
your own meaningless oblivion,
or realizing you will never again see your dead
friends, family, or pets in a land filled with milk and honey.

I have no comfort in believing
I am special in some cosmic way
I am nothing, you are nothing
sinner, saint, priest, or atheist – we all just become food for the worms.
There was a time in my life where, if there was a heaven I would have set fire to it.

?
I believe in love
You, in the god above
I wonder who is more delusional

Somewhere
Out there
A stillness
A darkness
Yet known
A nothingness
Awaits us
And it's better
That way

The purpose of life
Is that it ends
And people
Don't think
About death
Until they're
Forced to

It's true I don't believe in God
Can't say I ever did
It's something that I never questioned, even as a kid
But Santa Claus, now he is real
or at least he used to be
I don't miss God, but I miss the guy who left presents under the tree
