First impressions.
          Opening lines.
That’s how people will judge you.

       Leaving actions.
             Final words.
That’s how people will remember you.

We do what we do for a reason
And you may not understand my life
I cannot understand mine either
But it makes so little sense to fight
With the people I owe my success to
I'm successful in only one way
But success always leads to a downfall
And that is always the part that I play
No damsel in distress but I'm waiting
Because deep down I need to be saved
Cause my greatest enemy is myself
And my actions cut deep like razor blades
And I know deep inside I have power
But to release it takes more than I have
Maybe one day I'll stand on my own feel
Maybe one day I can just please myself.

It is so very easy to quote
Muhammad, Jesus and Moses.*
It is so very easy to utter
words filled with fragrant roses.
But it is just not enough, things
one says one needs to do.
Words needs to be put into
action if one is really true.
*Peace be upon them all.
I know I'm not alone.
I know that when I get home
there's people who love me.
I am surrounded by love even from those faraway.
And that my friends is a beautiful thing I can say.

Because sometimes I feel weak and bland and terrible, to say the least.
Sometimes I don't even love myself, if I may speak. But other people's  love keeps me going, because it is always showing.
And that is the best kind of love isn't it? One not defined by words, but by actions and forgiveness.

Thoughts are the guidelines of our actions
Simply borrowed, or inspired by life
They come to thrive in our garden
Where seeds of ideas are sown everyday
As we nurture them along the journey
Either aromatic flowers bloom, or weeds
Some of them can take the shapes of cacti
Their scratches can lacerate the mind
Timely intervention of the gardener
Is required to shape the verdant garden
Sincere thoughts of love and compassion to prosper
Our actions will be the final testimony
Of the kind of thoughts we have nurtured
Onus is on us to choose the seeds
A gratitude for a beautiful life
With the thoughts we have in our mind
Our actions will be the final grace
Jacob Traver Nov 2014
Live by our actions
They'll see who we are
But when they're never askin'
Who's gonna raise the bar?

They'll see our good?
An attempt, I'll admit
But you're foolin' yourself
You're nothin' but a hypocrite.

What makes us better?
"Holier than thou"?
We've never been loud
So go on, take your vow.

Actions speak louder than words
Except when those actions don't speak
So give those motions a voice
And be there for those who seek.
Braylee Beard Nov 2014
Please be careful,
for I am a poet
and words mean just as to much to me
as your actions do.
