My Dear Poet
A poem half made
is like bread still dough
like a bed unmade
like half a mo
A poem half done
is like a shade of day
with half the sun
A kiss, an inch away
A poem undone
Is a four moon phase
a count to one
a ‘mil’ out of place
A poem half finished
is like a tin of spinach
still unopened
and an expired usage
A poem not a
Now that that’s out of my system…

the butterflies and their dusted wings — they're sore under my tongue. i inherited the sting of my mother's wounds — her sunday madness and propensity for hurting. but not quite her bravery. not quite her capacity to carry such wounding weights. i am a washed-out silhouette. i cower, with lips blood-red from a tourmaline graze. i shake, i buckle, i drown, and sink. how then, do i say my words without turning them into a gospel made for wasteaways? how do i become half a woman she ever was? how do i live with myself?

long are these cold, clear nights of sobriety and awareness. long are these cold, oppressive seconds. i pull this dilapidated skin — wrap it all over me, resembling an unclaimed body in a morgue. solace exists, but solely outside these walls.

I ventured into the depths of my unruly heart to find the words that tasted like honey at sunrise.

Deep within the vibration gongs
Time of healing, one day belongs
In winters world of trodden prints
Inch by inch, present or past to tint

Deep within the calling wakes
Moving still, behold for sake
In autumn growth of changing winds
Inch by inch, doors un hinged

Deep within the layers unfold
Holding on, redness colds
In summer spray of colours ends
Inch by inch, seasons repeat to send

Rays come down like golden strings
Powdered with fairy dust and angels wings
Then slips in close, between the trees
No room for a subtle breeze
Shimmer into the faded
Where shadows go to die
The sun beams shoot like laser beams
Brightening up the sky
Shielded by the darkness
Where my shade of green trees reign
In between the peeking light
That’s where my thoughts of you remain
