Mother Earth decided
To have a yard sale
From the sands on her beach
With all of its sea shells
Including all the forest green
And mountain tops as well
Even all the in-betweens
Along with everything else

Selling all her waters
The entire lot
Ponds, lakes, and winding streams
What's clean and what's not
Even comes with the fish
All ready to be caught
Puddles go for 50 cents
If that's all you've got

Feel's she's getting way too old
To take care of it all
From the largest that there is
To the smallest of the smalls
With the creatures that can walk
And those that slither and crawl
Trying her best to get full price
Before she has to discount it all

She'll pay the price for adds up front
Advertising in the almanac
Get it in early enough
So she's not stuck in the back
Make it all day Fri
And half a day on Sat
With a chance to buy it all
Wherever you are at

As Mother Earth delegently
Sets up her yard sale
All must go as you can see
Take it home for yourself
Once it's all sold and gone
She has yet to figure out
Just knows that she desperatly needs
Some time alone to herself
Show me the path
That's narrow and straight
I'll put on my shoes
And be on my way
I'll turn to the blues
And tell them to stay
If my shoe strings come loose
I'll leave them where they lay

There won't be a thing
Holding me back
I'll throw over my shoulder
A single backpack
With nothing in it
As there'll be nothing I lack
As I follow in life
This chosen path
They say all's well that ends well
And maybe that is why
Not happy with the situation I'm in
The moment you stepped out of my life

Must be because for me it never ended
The day you said we're through
You were so sure when you walked out that door
I myself never did stop loving you

They say happiness is where the heart is
And yours is not in attendance
As I rely on mine one beat at a time
While yours goes about its business

A heart that is self employed
A one woman operation
Where I sit at home filling out forms
And you, no longer taking applications

They say time is the greatest of healers
If that's so, physician heal thyself
With no magic pill that ever could heal
Why am I just now finding that out

After I've contracted this illness
Without you not sure I'll regain my health
On the street is the word, there is no cure
Where all I hear is, all's well that ends well
I'm trying to decide
Which words best rhyme
With the way I feel about you

They must be just right
These words that I find
Ringing with the truth

Like that of fine dining
Or the perfect timing
No other words will do

Then I alight
On the well trued and tried
The perfection of I Love You
There's a certain beauty to the skyline
On the edge of this Texas town
Conjuring up the days last events
As the sun is sinking down

The day wrestles with the memories
Drawing them closely to an end
A sweetness that holds the fragrance
Of this beautiful Magnolia sunset

As the brushstroke of truth sweeps pinks and blues
In a mix between silver lined clouds
So much beauty to behold
Could make any sky cry out loud

Painting with perfection in pastel
God saves what colors are left
To use again the next evening
For another beautiful Magnolia sunset
Had a friend post pictures on line of Magnolia Texas's sunset.
Loved the view and title so much that I had to write a poem.
I've got 2 bit psychic powers
On that just trust me
Where barely beyond my nose
Is how far into the future I can see

And as far as communicating goes
With those on the other side
I have a hard enough time talking with
Loved ones here in life

My bank account is so low
I can't afford a Crystal ball
The closest thing I have to that
Is the glass **** on my door

Where the only reflection in it
That I have ever seen
Is my sweaty palm print
As I daily take my leave

And when it comes to Tarot cards
I would never dare to touch
The only pictures that I like
Are those in comic books

So sit across the table
And gaze into my eyes
You'll see I'll be a 2 bit psychic
Until the day I die
Ready or not here he comes
Best you batten down the hatches
Unless you were one of the smart ones to run
Like a **** Hound in July chasing rabbits

Alright, alright, alright
As you turn and face the wind
Open the door to a Category 4
And let Matthew come screaming in

Oh me, oh my, oh my, oh me
Is that Grandma in the yard below
Hanging tight with all her might to the clothes line
With her cat Skeeters in tow

This is getting rather exciting
As I see trees by the dozen crack in half
With my Boy scout skills I might need to later build
A sturdy family size raft

But for now we'll all hunker down
Try and stay away from the windows
And all the flying debris that I decided to leave
In the yard scattered between plastic Flamingos

I'm here wondering at this moment
Which of the two could be worse
Being blown away by a hurricane
Or eaten by a gator face first

Still you've got to love Florida
With 20 foot waves crashing to shore
As I step outside to grab that branch floating by
I think I need to start whittling some oars
I live in Jacksonville Florida and thought I'd try a little humor before my power goes out and I go to  a corner of the room to curl up and whimper.
The older that I get
The more in life I see
That I am much like you
And you are much like me
If we could only pull back the blinds
And make the past history
Try our best to get along
In turn, set each other free

Life for all its purpose
Life in all its sake
Runs much smoother when we love
Sputters when we hate
With our inner selves we all
Need to set a date
To see the candle our souls each hold
Flickers much the same

It's not that I condone
The life style that you choose
Nor do you agree
With what I also do
Can't we accept when it comes down to it
In all that we go through
That you are much like me
And I am much like you
Is there nothing they wont do
The depths that they'll sink to
Moral hypocrisy they'll let loose
Underhanded that they will use

Just to get elected...

Lies that they perceive
Putting ***** in the ***** deeds
Nothing at that they wont sneeze
Open Hell's gates and set them free

Just to get elected...

Tell us what we want to hear
Playing off our biggest fears
The headlights to our road deer
Always sounding so sincere

Just to get elected...

Tell us that they do but don't
Tell us that they will but won't
All in hopes they don't get caught
Never ever taking fault

Just to get elected...

Digging up the buried past
20-30 years at best
Never giving it a rest
Is this what we're left with

Just to get elected...

It's not like we have not been warned
They're the early birds and we're the worms
As they tell us no need to be alarmed
They mean us no physical harm

Just to get elected...

Remember this is the dating game
What you see is the well behaved
All I've got to say is just you wait
There's a big difference between do and say

With the elected...
Are you caught up in religion
Following along a set of rules
Is there something I am missing
Aren't man made rules written out for fools

If it's something that takes your heart away
From the very heart of God
Then please listen closely as I say
You're missing out on Love

Isn't that one of the reasons
That Christ Jesus came
To show us all a different path
Than the religious leaders laid

And don't we have the Bible
The very written word of God
Whose main theme is that of Jesus
And the wonder of His Love

So while religion does have its place
Helps us focus North instead of South
The main focus on religion
Is not what it's all about

I'm not saying we shouldn't gather
Iron clearly sharpens iron
Just don't rely on religion
To keep you from the fire

Jesus should be the focus
In everything we do
In these times of hard to find
With Him you'll never lose
