I am the narcissist that
fell in love with my own
mind and sadly found out:
It's an abusive relationship.
don't purge your ego. embrace it.
blame me for where you are in life
the fault is rightly mine

my culpability of you leaving your rehab
leaves me hopelessly full of draining regret
thinking of how much better your life would be

and maybe we could have worked out
if I had been faithful
in a grey area
that was apparently black and white to you
The brandy just as common
With the daughters
Reassuringly following to feed
The right howled lark
Into worn times.
Carry the jean size that you wore in high school
Since the advantage is not forgotten:
Drifting footmen believed manners
Learn prettier face,
But lean into the interrupted light
of another
gun-shooting hurricane on the television.
Indolent raisings are the explanation;
The snort of adolescent judgment dreadfully happens,
And we couldn’t free the dog’s role
Into the
Gently
Busily
Sulkily
… Oh how you’ve been.

Sophia C
Aristotle,
You preached that
Logic is the basis of humanity.

I tried reason.
I penned a list:
"PROS—I will be happy (when he is around)
CONS—I will be miserable (when he is gone)

He is gone"

Aristotle,
Your logic is crumpled up
At the bottom of my wastebasket.
i think you,
when the world
(easy with roses)
speaks a hymn
like the mute
crushing of
parted night,
will rise beyond your body
to sing with fierce grace
your hands as lips to speak;
such love (even the roots
of flowers have never known)
