Keep Watch

Keep watch with me for an hour or so
Be vigilant for when I return you do not know
Keep watch through the darkest light

Be alert for the hour is quickly drawing near
For those who are prepared there is no cause for fear
Stay awake with me in the garden as I weep
Though it is hard, do not give in to sleep

Be wary when life is good of the sin of pride
Keep your eyes open and fixed on your savior and friend

What are the keys to holiness and perfection? Practice, patience, time, and integrity. Like any good thing, it takes work and lots of it. You don't become Van Gogh, or Mozart, Michael Jordan or Mother Theresa overnight. Granted, some of these people have certain gifts and talents that make it easier, but it still took practice and consistent work. Patience is also necessary. There may be setbacks or failures, mistakes and sleepless nights, but one must be patient and endure, because if you keep going, things are going to look up and trials will strengthen and give us the tools we need for the future. Time is something we all have and never seem to have enough of. Make good use of your time and fill it with good and wholesome things. Do not hurry or rush perfection or holiness or any good thing. Nothing good comes to those who hurry and rush and do not wait. Finally, and perhaps most importantly is integrity. To be holy and strive for perfection, one must have true integrity. As Shakespeare said once "... above all else: To thine own self be true". Be true to who you are and who you were made to be. Do not try to live someone else's life or be someone else. You aren't. You are you and that is that. Be the best you that you can be. For, as Mother Theresa is quoted as saying: "in the final analysis it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway".

There is something special about laughter

Did I live my life with love and care?
Did I make peace where there was war,
Cultivate love and forgiveness where there is hate?

When people looked at me, could they see Your face?
Someone radically transformed by Your love, compassion, mercy, and grace.

Was I a voice for the mute,
A light shining brightly for you?
Was I hope for the hopeless, love for the loveless,
A light that the lost find their way?

When this life is over and it's time at long last to come home,
When You stand before me in all of Your glory
What will I hear you say?

Lord God, you are the author of life and creator of all good things. Everything is yours and yours alone. But I don't always (or often) act like it. I try to rely on myself to find success, to find my worth, to overcome challenges, to have control over my life as if I don't or can't trust you to provide what I need. I'm sorry. I have a hard time letting go. Letting go of hurt, pain, sadness, anger, jealousy, and I miss the times that were beautiful and filled with joy and love, laughter and peace. I'm sorry. Help me, Lord, to surrender my control to you. Help me learn to let go and give you all of me, keeping nothing back from you. Take the good and the bad Lord, and through your great grace, blanket me in your love and bless my heart and soul with a profound peace that comes only from you. I don't pray as often as I should and, many times, I talk too much and listen too little. Help me be patient Lord and give you a little time as you have given me this time that I have.

When I pray Lord, take me away to the secret place. Take me to where you are, take me into your most sacred heart. When life is just too much to bear, show me just how much you care. When life is simply too demanding, bless me with peace that surpasses all understanding. When the winds are fair and the seas are still, my soul as well is mirror tranquil. When the storm is swirling mad with rage, you will hold me and my fears you will assuage.

Hello, dear child. It is I, your Father.
I love you. Always and forever I love you and will never stop loving you. At times, like sheep, you wander and go astray. In danger you cry out. And I am there by your side to take you back safe and sound. Yes! I would leave the flock to find you and keep you safe. Have I not said I'd leave 99 to find the lost one? Would I not rejoice in a lost one returning home? Did the father not celebrate and run to his prodigal son when the son that was lost and spiritually dead came back? Amen, I say to you, I'll take you back with open arms. When you are weary and tired come to me and I will give you rest and strength. When you are scared or alone, run to me and in the shelter of my arms I'll give you peace and comfort. And if the way is dark, the path unclear; call out to me. Pray. Do not be afraid to ask and reach out. Does it not say "Seek and you shall find, ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be opened? Yes if you seek me with all your heart, you will find I am there with you". Amen I say to you, "Trust in Me. Do not worry about the things you need in life". Do not fret about the food you need to stay alive or about the clothes you need for your body. I will provide. See? How the little birds are provided for? How much more are you worth than the birds! Remember child: I am only a breath away. Remember child: how much I love you. Stretching out my arms and dying for you. I love you. Never forget that! I am your Father.

Sometimes it’s okay to think, speak, act, etc. but we do it so much; constantly moving, rarely slowing down, and almost never stopping. There are times that we need to stop. Don’t speak, don’t think, don’t act. Just listen and be. Listen to the world around you, listen to the silence that you may hear Him speak. Empty yourself so you may be filled, lose yourself so you can be found. Try letting everything fade away so you can focus on the one thing that matters most: your presence to Him and His presence in you. Be patient, don’t give up or get discouraged and keep trying when it doesn’t work. Listen!

Listen to the Lord in the silence of your heart
Be still and know that He is God and King
The Author Creator Sustainer of Everything
Be filled with His presence in every breath you take
Know that He is with you in every choice you make

I've been asking a lot of questions lately
Trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do

Remind us that evil will never prevail
You overcame the world so we shall not fear
Nor, for anything, want as long as you are near

You consecrate our lives in your blessed truth
In your compassion fill all of our youth
With love for you and the world outside
Shine your light upon us, your face do not hide

Lord, help me remember
In a love so warm and tender
That nothing is going to happen to me today
With my hand in yours as your love lights the way
No valley too deep no mountain too high
Lifted up on eagles’ wings so I can fly
There is no storm that we can’t weather
Nothing that You and I can’t handle together

Lord in your goodness hear and answer me
My enemies surround me they plot my demise
With wicked words they seek to trap me
Day and night they scheme with evil in their hearts
I fear for my life my safety Oh Lord my God

They lie in the shadows watching and waiting
Waiting for a moment of weakness to pounce
But you my God are my protector in trouble
You are my shield and my strength

I cry out to you come save me from these wolves

Deliver me from my foes and by your right hand guard me
I trust in you God come swiftly to my aid

Lord, I see you
I see you standing there
I see you watching, waiting
Longing just to love me
Wanting to make me whole again
I see the question, the sadness
I see the love and the tenderness
I see the warmth, I sense the depth
And what I see catches my breath
I see you in shadow and in light
I behold the resurrected Christ
I see the hands that bear the scars
That paid the debt that was ours
There is nothing so powerful
As love so pure, perfect and true
For, not even death could stop God
From being together with you

Lord let me be your hands

Your hands reaching out helping the lowly

Healing those who hurt and suffer lifting up the people


Lord let me be your arms

Your arms outstretched loving the entire world

A warm embrace, a shelter, a safe haven


Lord let me be your feet

Your feet carrying the good news to the corners of the Earth

The feet that walked the road to the hill where you died for me to live


Lord let me be your eyes

Your eyes that saw the measure of a man saw the good in all

The eyes that cried when Lazarus died the joy when the lost was found


Lord let me be your ears

Your ears that hear the pleas and listened with great care

The ears that hear the quiet breeze and the truth of God above


Lord let me be your mouth

Your mouth to speak what is right and true

The words make them yours and guide my tongue


Lord let me be your heart

Your heart overflowing with love and moved to compassion

The heart to minister as you will it remembering to recharge


Lord let me be your instrument

Your instrument to use

For peace, joy, hope and love I give myself to You!

What is happiness?
Happiness is living, loving, and laughing
It is filling even the sad times with hugs and smiles
Happiness is many, many things
Among these things is love.
Happiness is having more than one family
Happiness is having a friend
A friend who shares your joy in laughs and your pain in tears
A friend who would gladly take the burden off your shoulders
And carry the weight themselves
A friend who would travel the whole world to find you again
A friend who would go to such lengths to keep you happy
A friend where everything they have is yours
A friend who would take each blow
So you might not know pain
A friend who would never leave you
A friend who is always by your side
A friend who is there both night and day
A friend who would even die for you
Happiness is knowing you will never be alone
Happiness is having a family all together
Happiness is a quiet time alone
Happiness is being among family and friends
Happiness is many things to many different people
But happiness regardless is a good thing indeed
Happiness is a smile or a hug when sad
Happiness is a rainbow after the storm
Happiness is the sun shining through a cloudy day

Lord, I lost my way, and I lost my ground
I lost the innocence I once had found
I lost my faith, and I lost my hope
Losing my grip at the end of this rope
I buried the treasure, I misplaced the map
Broke my compass, and now I'm at a gap
Can't see the sun, the stars have gone dark
Wherever it is I am, I'm way off the mark

Love was greater than our sin and hate
Love is necessary in order to create
Love was greater than suffering and pain
Love bore the weight of all our shame
Love was greater than the power of death
Love gave life with it’s breath
Love was greater than all our dreams
Love is so much more than it first seems
Love was greater than all our fear
Love is something I hold most dear
Love is patient love is kind
Love is gentle love is not blind
Love is slow to anger and quick to forgive
Love is not jealous love loves to give
Love does not boast but acts humbly
Love is what can set a prisoner free
Love never quits when things get hairy
Love will not waste nor will it tarry
Love is what flowed from Jesus’ side
Love was shown when He spread his arms and died
Love was greater than what we deserve
Love has covered over all the earth
Love is greater than all treasure is worth
Love is our heritage love is our legacy
Love is a mystery love is our history
Love is greater than words can say
Love is the message we try to convey
Love is a peace beyond compare
Love is a presence that is everywhere
Love is opening the eyes of my heart
Love has painted us works of art
Love is a secret that needs to be shared

The healing from that which I grieved
You treated me in both body and spirit
Gave me the truth and ears to hear it
You are a cure for all that ails us
Worship and prayer greatly avail us
I go forth with new life and great hope
Because of the words that you spoke:
"Go now, by your faith you have been saved
My mercy and love, your sins I forgave"
Forgive me when I don't appreciate
The gifts that have been feely given
Forgive me when I say thanks and then
Go back to the way I was livin'
