Wings of the Moonlight
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
We will sail away
on the wings of the moonlight
over the lakes of the blue
we'll cross the starry nooks.

We will go, we’ll go far beyond
where the flow is musical
every air beat plays the lute.
You and me we’re only one
who says we’re two?

Rhyme and Sing
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
A slice of the Moon flanked
by a pair of moonlights.
And a butterfly pair basks
in the sunlight.

You and me too,
we will rhyme and sing
simply in mother tongue.
In the good old original lingua
like ‘Adam speaks and all
Angels listen in paradise’.

Most beautiful of all.
To touch it once for all
longing night burns
down reduces into kohl.
Everyday scurries to this
swarthy twilight black hole.

Our Jumping Storylines
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
The silent moon
is still in the listening mode
since Adam in Eden voiced
his divine prose!

Ambling speechless over
the ocean it won’t touch it,
nor will the billowy water
neither will it jump over.
Therein the ever polished gap
our storylines find the jump!

The Feminine Core
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
The Feminine Core

Without it, Earth is no Earth.
I, Fathima—the primeval woman—have no doubt:
the circle of prophets is my witness—
I touched the bottom of her waters.

Zeroed into her zero-neigh,
circled it with my hair,
and laid down her foundation,
hardwired with my circle.

Something is Missing
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
What will you do, should you do
If you are led pass to fly
far from the sight at the twilight?

Slip into a tucked away serene sky
keeping your head held high
sway free by posy astro-ewers.
As you please pick and fill them
with your so exquisite star-flowers!
Then you may well fancy reaching out
to the Moon bubbling on the edge of the night.

If you then swing back at the day peep
wake up listening the nightingale singing.
Now can you interpret what is it saying
or when all is in place something is missing?

I Want More
Shofi Ahmed Sep 2017
I want and I want more,
don’t shut the door.
Forget the time is ticking,
one is growing old.

Tickled pink flowers
are still looking good.

Hunky-dory birds
on top of the trees
singing in choir so sweet.

Forget me not, send me a tweet
save it all in the planetary disc
every morning is new open
the door down the sunrise hill

the sea touches the cloud.
Dancing on the ground,

runs on the go,
leaps or dips, but never
is a gone goose!
Ah, holy smoke,

Manpower
Shofi Ahmed Aug 2017
He looks like the moon from the sky,
His radiant eyes would steal the sunrise,
His shoulder stood high,
Heartbeats as if he smells his likely world
on his arm, there is everything but a tie!
He just doesn't have a job, been interviewed,
He expressed his qualities, many quantities,
but lost, walked out without a offer!

His sunny face was still shimmering.
The successful one, murmured 'my friend
you wasn't smart enough selling yourself!'
I don't think I wanted to do that, he replied:

Am is willing to serve to earn the means
to be served, don't mean to sale and buy.
If ethic has no value maybe then
a job is nothing but 'sale and buy'!

A Poem is the Last Spare

Sometimes
a word or two
tells it all.
Sometimes
it doesn't at all!

Sometimes a wispy
cloud marks

Sometimes the sun
hides behind a

A sigh or a breath

Just For The One
Shofi Ahmed Jul 2017

either way as you please.
But not even a single grain of salt
us all stuck in a single wound.

What we want is not more than one
Our eyes don't blink just watch.
Any how any way
east, west, south, north is fine.
Goodness knows
we all got caught
just for one single reason.
Just the one, that's all.

‘Earth’
maybe a mole
in the mountain of space.
But the story is bigger
than any epic tale.

It's the one scoops
the bottom line
of the bottomless space!

Small simple finishing
tells the complete tale
'as above, so below'.
One that takes into
account all the matter
and the entire space.

The story goes on
The fine earth takes its place.
Now the mountain
sits on the mole space!

Sands Brighter than the Gold
Shofi Ahmed Jun 2017
Not once upon a time but now
among most innocent ones,
an Arabian voice is buried
in the thick wall of bricks
furnished with glory,
floating in the oasis of money.

Yet, when it switches to it's origin
then maybe is a poor Arab speaking.
Still the rest of the world

The idea is to be pure, too,
to see it through.

Life is short, is on the move,
never does the truth grow old.
Destination du jour is one not two.
Either end up with a thorn or a rose.

Read a heart, find the truth beforehand,
when two folks both tend to hide.
It’s worth looking closely, maybe
one is hiding one’s true self,
one is a pearl keeping inside the shell!

Just as the sun never misses, is spot on!
At the end of the day escapes into the dark
mixes and rolls in the shadow of the moon.

Flame and the Mirror
Shofi Ahmed May 2017
A new Prometheus breaks through
with the light not taken from the sun
but from an unknown forgotten one.
Not up from the sky nor from down
the bottom of the ocean, rose from the null!

The witty one then shows up
like a candle, flame on the mirror!
Everything around it starts fading
except the flame in front of the mirror.
More and more eyeballs look
on it only to be sure
anything like it was never seen before!

By now the world woken up at the first light
perhaps except the one who could tell the truth
what was that looking in the mirror?

The Mother Tongue
Shofi Ahmed May 2017
A song like King David sang and everyone heard
It’s the sweet song sang in every mother tongue;
A perfumed speech is heard sweeter than nectar
wreaths round each patch of earth as part of a tongue
in all different variations, directions it’s singing!

Mathematically comped that rhythmically span
fashion in both or you choose science or arts.
It’s a lyric sang with finest curvy swaying dance
feel the quivers deep down into the atomic level
still the various motions in various directions turn on,
nowhere near that look drawing a pause!
Shofi Ahmed May 2017
Art, a smile like the one
on the face of Mona Lisa.
Curved like the waxing moon
above the sea.
Light a flame before a face
yet to be seen.
What will it prevail,
will it show once for all
a slow tilt on the smiling lips
—a curve softly locks on
a rose from the sun,
or a shadow beneath the moon?
This is a poem from my book Zero and One available on Amazon.

Mind The Small Prints
Shofi Ahmed May 2017
It’s a coloured and shaded broad daylight.
Bring me my hourglass, my paintbrush.
Keeping a timepiece, how soon my brush
strokes become finer it is not the task.
Try once more, strike a fine chord in time,
ever ticking but doesn't make a sound!

Let’s read the small prints, the shadow lines
on the pitch of the slit sun shines!
A dark spot in the light, some dotted lines
on a blank paper, however witty you might
describe it, count on the tweeting birds
short and cute, singing in the open air.

Light and dark the two tallies, ins and outs.
The times come and go, flowing fine.
For now, let’s take a look inside.
Tint and shade nor tone them now.
Zoom in and out, just watch them as they are.

This cool sleek shade on the sunny slate
is it a shadow, or some quivering curly hairs
or are these reflections of flocking clouds,
diligent sea eyeing deep down on the ground?
Read the small prints, shadows in the daylight,
before the show is wrapped up.
And down the evening pool, the sun
parts away with the black swan.
