I, Crab
Shaun Yee Jan 2021
I don’t walk forward like everyone,
I just don’t know how,
I always walk sideways from side to side,
Like what I am doing now;

My eyes are not inside my head,
I can’t keep them there,
They protrude out a bit instead,
But I can still see everywhere.

The Human Race
Shaun Yee Mar 2022
Are you proud you are with the human race,
That walking creature with a brain and face,
Who thinks he is the important being,
He is smarter than any living thing?

Other creatures are here to serve him well,
He goes to heaven but they go to hell,
After all he is made in god’s image,
All other creatures belong in the cage.

And are you proud of the things he’s done?
Killing others, maiming people for fun?
Like human terrorists with deranged souls,
Worshipping hate and evil as their goals?

When man has learnt to be less conceited,
To hide his ego and be big-hearted,
When he has learned and fully understands,
To embrace all beings with loving hands;

Only then can we be proud of the human race,
That walking creature with a brain and face!

One Day We All Die
Shaun Yee Apr 2021
One day when I am dead
I know that you will cry
But when all the tears are done
Do accept that one day we all die

Yearn not for me in vain
I rather you don’t try
Be happy and live again
Just accept that one day we all die

Sharp and fast like them,
Otherwise they are hard to see.

Defying The Herd
Shaun Yee Jan 2022
Most people follow blindly like goats do,
Never really think hard of things right through,
So easy are the ways to just follow,
Even if everything is plain shallow;

This is all that's right and all that is wrong,
Speak the same words, also sing the same song,
Enjoy the smiles and nods of knowing folks,
Follow them, eat egg whites, throw out the yolks;

All go to bed at ten and wake at six,
That's the way to get daily healthy fix,
So see if you can really, really dare,
Turn away from the usual here and there;

And do your own thing different from all,
Root yourself firmly, don't follow the fall,
To be different will take a lot of nerve,
To follow your own path, to never swerve.

And then,

Sneers and looks and glances many unkind
You may get from the herd you left behind.

Snowflakes Joy
Shaun Yee Feb 2022
They were just new-born baby snowflakes
heavy raindrops splashing on the walls
half an hour later fully grown
and falling like fluffy cotton *****

It snowed heavily for half a day
The snowflakes falling without a sound
everything slowly changed to white
rooftops, treetops, bushes and the ground

Such a beauteous stunning scenery
was thrilling to capture all in mind
for a joyous glorious little while
snowflakes make me leave my cares behind
snowflakes are beautiful :-)

Farewell
Shaun Yee Jan 2021
When the sun no longer shines,
And the moon has gone away,
The stars have left the sky,
And darkness rules the day;
I hope that you can come,
To me before I die,
I will kiss you one last time,
Before I say goodbye.

Snowflakes in the Night
Shaun Yee Jan 2021
I watched the snowflakes falling in the night,
And was thrilled with such a simple splendid sight,
All was changing slowly to white and clear,
And a breathless silence hovered by my ear.
I watched the snowflakes for minutes more,
I could see the beauty grow beyond the door,
Then I went to sleep with a happy heart,
Loving the feeling that snowflakes can impart.

Sad Sunday
Shaun Yee Feb 2022
It is a winter's very cold sad Sunday today,
thick mist everywhere and the sky a blanket of grey,
no darting squirrels, no chirping birds, no pigeons in flight,
and no playing children, no shouts, no laughter in sight,
most neighbouring families seem homebound,
while in the courtyards and gardens nary a sound,
cars are parked neatly in all  their usual places,
unlike other days, there are no empty spaces,
the roads are eerily empty of people walking about,
except for a couple of dog walkers who are out,
so until the morning mist clears and the sky turns blue,
I'll just watch TV with others doing the same thing too.

Memory
Shaun Yee Apr 2022
Memory dwells as essence of life,
Without which life's lessons won't survive,
For each thought and action that we score,
Is derived from the brain's endless store;
When memory is completely lost,
We will suffer the ultimate cost,
Nothing can we remember at all,
No life have we that we can recall.

Shaun Yee Sep 2021
They were big and clumsy,
And also not too handsome at all,
Their movements were very limited,
For they were often stuck to the wall.

The phone invention was really great,
And my ancestors' real main function,
Was to enable folks everywhere,
Have far-reaching communication.

My more modern generation now,
Outstrips all predecessors by far,
All my multiple functions make me
your phone, camera, computer star.

I am streamlined, slick and super swift,
Making those before me look quite tame,
Without me you are totally lost,
Smartphone is my name.

Night Ship
Shaun Yee Sep 2022
Into unchartered waters the night ship sails,
Beyond the seas beyond the seals and whales,
Entering a world human eyes have never seen,
Where reality and fiction are somewhere in-between,
Where dreams seem real though ghostly in form,
And confusion and fear are often the norm,
But the sailor has no means to steer and control,
Uncomfortably impotent and passive is his role,
As his night ship into unchartered waters sails,
Beyond the seas beyond the seals and whales.

Brain Alignment
Shaun Yee Mar 2022
It's such a shame that the human brain
is often used every day in vain
while other creatures much less smarter
utilise what they have much better

Animals don't torture, maim or ****
for greed, egoism, lust or thrill
they have respect for the enemy
while man lacks a sense of decency

So it's really time for man to stop
praising himself and time to adopt
a change in attitude and thinking
and align his brain to reasoning

The world cannot be a lovely place
so long as around there is disgrace

but I wonder if he's just being funny
maybe it does suit me 'cause I'm so fit
anyway I have to get used to it

for really how can I protest
when my owner can't access
any doggy word I say ……
it's the same **** thing every day

you know, it's really not too good
when I can't be understood
but I ask of you, what can I do …….
when my owner doesn't have a clue

I'm a male dog of mixed breed,
Bossy loves me and that's all I need,
so now that you and I at last have met,
you'll want to know more about me I'll bet

I ask of you a hundred questions,
Though it’s not for me to pry,
For there are a hundred answers,
I have to know just where they lie.

There are so many qualities of you,
Of which I feel I’m blind,
For you so deeply do I care,
I need to peer into your mind.

So forgive me if of you I ask,
When and where and what and why,
‘Cos when I have the answers all,
No longer do I have to sigh.

The Gold Rimmed Wine Glass
Shaun Yee Dec 2023
The wine glass sat boldly on the shelf,
All alone by its lonesome self,
gleaming cleanly and crystal clear;
I was watching it very near,
so could see it had a strong gold rim,
very elegant and quite slim;
The glass was reflecting the light
a nearby candle burning bright,
and the sight brought back to me
a distant childhood memory,
Of porcelain bowls we once had,
that were bought by my mom and dad,
They were designed with dragons bold,
and gently set with rims of gold.

With the help of a friendly breeze,
I can easily soar up fast and high,
and fly around with abandon ease,

Everyone Has Flaws
Shaun Yee Jan 2022
It's always so very, very easy,
All the flaws in others, for us to see;
When we look for flaws, they will always show,
Everywhere we look, we can see them grow;
Our own flaws though, we are  often blind,
Yet they are always there, for us to find;
So criticism, we should keep in line,
For everyone has flaws like yours and mine

I, Robot
Shaun Yee Mar 2021
Beware, all of you out there,
For I am now here to stay,
You humans created me,
And the future is my day.
You have given me a brain,
And made me intelligent,
You have human emotions,
I am fully indifferent.

My electronic brain
Makes me superior to you,
No matter how fast you think,
I can think much faster too.
In your body you have strength,
Strong you physically are,
But you have kindly made me,
Much stronger than you by far.
You know you get hungry too,
Which will make you very weak,
But that won’t happen to me,
And for food I never seek.

So now that you know it all,
Should you really be afraid,
Of the superior being
That you have cleverly made?
But maybe you need not be,
It’s you I depend upon,
For all my superiority,
To switch my battery on!

Sunlight Ecstasy

Sunlight through the leaves of trees,
Shining streams of golden rays,
A lovely tropical scene,
Promises of sunlight ways.

Each light stream was dynamic,
Aglow with aspirations,
Like children's smiles of brightness,
Spreading varied emotions.

If sunlight could be bottled,
And shared with everyone,
We will all have sunlight days,
Even times when there are none.

Shaun Yee Dec 2023
Even as an innocent child,
I had always liked to believe,
That the jolly fat man in red,
Will fly across with gifts to give,
Making many hopeful children
Very happy on Christmas Eve;

For on this holy festive night,
Santa is real and not a lie,
So children all over the world,
Will excitedly watch the sky,
Hoping to see if Santa Claus
With his reindeer are passing by;

It's not really such a big deal,
Even if it's a fairy tale,
Adults also need something too,
For happiness is often frail,
Santa will always bring a smile,
Like greeting cards in Christmas mail.
